Weetabix

When we visit WDW in April my daughter will be 11 months old. Every morning for breakfast she has Weetabix cereal. Can anyone tell me if this is available in the US? (I live in England!)

Last December when we came over we had trouble using our baby monitor as it is an English one, I guess the frequency is different or something...Anyhow we thought we might buy a cheap one in Walmart or somewhere when we arrive so we can use it to listen for Jennifer while she is sleeping and we are relaxing by the villa pool. Are cheap baby monitors easily available?

I have never seen it here in Wisconsin. I don't know about Florida. But, I'm thinking no. If you could describe it maybe we could give you the name of a kind available here that might be close to same thing.

It is a healthy cereal (low fat, low sugar, all wholegrain) They are oval 'biscuits' that you pour milk on and they turn into a mushy baby friendly wholesome cereal. It is one of the market leaders here so I would expect something similar there. I guess I could just pack some- it would make space in the case to take home Disney souvenirs!

Or can anyone recommend a healthy cereal that is good for babies?

Gerber makes excellent cereal of different types. They have rice, oatmeal. They also have cereals with some fruit in them. They taste pretty good too.

If she's used to the Weetabix, what about bringing a box with you?

As for monitors, Walmart has plenty from 25$ on upwards. And if you go to a Walmart supercenter, you can get the baby food there too.

It sounds similar to shredded wheat, which are biscuits of shredded wheat that disintegrate after being in milk for a few minutes. You can buy them frosted or plain, regular size, mini, or bite size.

Most babies I know eat Cheerios (toasted oat circles.) You may want to bring what she is used to, however, just in case.

I bought a Fisher-Price baby monitor at Wal-Mart last year for $20.

You may want to check out A Baby's Best Friend . They rent all kinds of baby equipment and deliver it to your hotel. I've never used their services myself, but have read a lot of good things about them on this board.

We usually go to WDW at least once a month with our 13 month old DD, so let me know if you have any other questions.

Ok. I found a website with a picture of them. They look just like our Shredded wheat cereal that Moinab mentioned. Also, the Weetos look like our Cheerios. I don't know if they will taste the same. Cheerios are a staple here for families with little kids. They are a low fat, sugar and are oat grain. Most infants and toddlers here like them. Most kids will eat them without milk and most of us moms will take them with for snacks. They are the perfect size for small fingers to pick up. I hope this helps. Have a great vacation ( Holiday)!

A great big thank you to all you ladies who replied to my questions, I really appreciate it.

Jennifer does have Cheerios. I carry them everywhere in a little pot as a quick snack. She loves them!!! I will probably just bring a small packet of Weetabix with me.

We brought Jennifer to WDW last December when she was 6 months old and it was fantastic. This trip (with my parents too) should be even better as she is so much more interested in things.

Sorry, you can't get Weetabix in ordinary US supermarkets, for the most part. The only store in my midwestern city that has it is an Asian market; we have a lot of residents who formerly lived in Hong Kong, and they carry a lot of British food for that crowd.

They do look much like traditional full-size Shredded Wheat, but they don't taste the same at all, really; Weetabix has more of a whole-grain flavour. Weetabix are also sold in Canada, but the Canadian version doesn't taste like the UK version. (BTW, UK Cheerios don't taste like US Cheerios, either, the UK version is much more sweet-tasting.)

However, if you really want them and don't want to waste your baggage allowance on putting them in your luggage, there are online sites that you can order from who will ship to your resort.

I've just come back from two weeks in Orlando, and I know I saw weetabix somewhere! It may have been at Goodings, which is the supermarket nearest to Downtown Disney (basically, if you are coming from Disneyworld, with Downtown on your left, keep going past Downtown, past all the hotels until you get to the Crossroads. This is where Disney property ends. Opposite the crossroads is a shopping and dining area and there is a supermarket there called Goodings).

If it wasn't Goodings then it may have been a Super Walmart or Super Target.

The local supermarkets carry them here--it's one of DH's favorite. Orlando is a pretty big city, so I would think you should be able to find some.

Perhaps you can compile a list of supermarkets in Orlando and once you arrive at the airport call them to see if it's in stock.
Gooding's might be a good starting point since it's geared toward tourists. However, the best bet might be just to bring a box or two from home.

to get an idea of price range. We don't have any Walmarts around here but if it's like Target or KMart, they'ld have baby products at the lower price range.

we saw wheetabix in orlando supermarkets, in special brit food sections alongside the ribena and marmite - but they are very expensive - i would be inclinded to bring some, or give her cheerios
