Week of October 5 WISH Walking & Running Club

Oh Ang: Sorry to hear the news and my sympathy to you and your DH!!!

Tracy

Back from a 10 miler with Guru Les. Average pace 8:43 up and over Diamond Head. Better run than last Sunday, but still not up to speed. :lmao:

Kristi - Glad to hear someone else is doing a W4/R1. Wanna do the full with me?
:lmao:
You are a funny lady, Jackie!
I do want to do a full, one time. To say I did one. But I am nowhere near ready.
I think I promised Judy we'd do it the year of our big birthdays.
I just can't remember which year that was! :rotfl:

Ang
-

Hey everyone! I missed last week too. Just so much going on lately.

Duckie - Glad you weren't hurt badly. Take care, huh. I need my walking buddies for Jan! BTW, how's Noah's training coming along?

Jackie - another YAY for not quitting. I also sometimes just decide to go out and not look at the Garmin. Just do what the body wants to do. Funny thing is sometimes those turn out to be some of my best walks.

Ang - PD to you and DH.

Jeff - Better pick up that speed mister! :lmao: (I don't even run that fast in my dreams!)

Big HELLO to everyone!!

Pulled something in my left thigh Sat then did a 5K on Sun and had the entire leg cramp. Didn't stretch after and paid for it Mon & Tues. Got to gym last night - 10 miles on bike then stretching followed by pool/hot tub. Feeling so much better today.

Wed is always an off night for us so tomorrow will see about getting out for a walk after work. Hoping for about 5 miles.

Have a great day!!

Sorry I've been MIA I was gone to a conference in DC and then came back with a cold :(

Today, I did 4 miles in 35 minutes for an 8:45 pace

Oh, and I made it to the final round of Teach for America

Best,
Jennifer

Running in here to give Jackie a big hug! Want me to email you a picture of me for the treadmill? Will that help?? :goodvibes OK so you took some time off. No problem. Now, just one foot in front of the other. :woohoo:

Umm, Kristi? Yeah, we ARE doing the Full. There. Now it's in black and white for the entire internet to see! We'll just figure out which year. popcorn::

Ang -- I am sorry about your family's loss.

UGH! I have been so delinquent about posting here, in my WISH journal and on my team thread (I think they've probably disowned me by now! :sad1: ). Life has been totally busy and I've been swamped with wedding planning. :bride: :cloud9:

My schedule has been pretty consistently running 2 miles 2x/week, personal training and core strengthening 1x/week, long run every Saturday (this past Saturday was 6 miles), 1 day of recumbent bike (usually 30-45 minutes). I am trying to get into more of a routine now that Donald training has started. I had begun ramping up my LR miles when I thought I was going to San Antonio in November for the half. Unfortunately, I will be in the middle of a trial. The only good thing is that I am further along on Donald training than I would have been otherwise.

In the interim, I am looking forward to WISH scream teaming at Marine Corps (later this month) and the Philly full (November).

Have fun with the training, everyone!

Ang - Condolences to you and your family on the loss of your grandfather.

From the WISH team. :grouphug:

Jackie, glad that you've got back at it! Sometimes we just nead a breath, then it's time to get back to it.

Ang, sorry for your family's loss.

I've become more busy than I know what to do with and while it is good, it is not what I have expected so things have slowed training-wise, but I'm still plugging away. Got a 1/2 this Sunday that I will not be as quick at as I had planed to be, but I'll get 'er done.

Happy training everyone.

Ang - Oh no......I'm so sorry for your family's loss. :sad1:

Ang - I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

Terri

  I'm excited that I will be with the mouse a week from today!!!!
Just a regualr fall type visit for me. I will be late for the RFTT and early for the ToT, but that is the way college football season crumpbles.
Maybe next year for one of those.
Anybody arriving around the 18 or 19?? If I see you or you see me I'll say "Howdy" or "Hi" or something!!

Tracy

Hey everyone - I've committed to doing another Disney Half Marathon in 2010. The last one I did was in 2005, with the first group of WISHer's that went down. I had a blast and it was the best thing I ever did for myself. I've been struggling with the weight gain creeping on a little bit at a time the past year or two, so I need something life changing again.

I did two half marathons that year and I was so hooked- I'm ready to feel that rush again. I figured it was time to join you all so I can start getting myself into tip top shape. I'll be 40 next summer, so I'd love this and getting to my goal weight is going to be my birthday present to myself. Who knows - if I really get in shape over the next few months - maybe I'll go for the Mickey instead of the Donald.

Melanie Welcome and good luck on your goals!

Ang Sorry about your loss..hope he lived a wonderful life.

Tracy Glad you get to go back to Disney-wish it were me and by the way I'd take disney over football every time.

Jennifer WTG-you rock!

Me-I did 5 easy miles yesterday and 6 miles today (a tempo run). Tonight I'm going to Disney on Ice with my DD!

Have a good Thursday everyone!

Tracy, Dh and I will be in the parks off and on those days, we'll keep our eyes peeled for you. You know what we look like, so if you see us....holler!

Ang, Very sorry for your loss. It's never easy, no matter the age or if it was expected.

What do you do when your company's stock loses 33% of it's value in one day, plunging to market cap levels not seen since before the Great Depression? Pour a glass of wine, eat the Cheddar goldfish and check the WISH boards! (At home, of course)

Melanie Welcome back! We will all help you on your journey. You will be able to get back into it--just rememeber, it may take time, but don't get discouraged.

Tracy Have fun at the World, and eat some good stuff from the F&W booths at Epcot.

Jennifer Congrats on your making it to the final round. We'll all cross our fingers for you (that will be a lot of luck!)

Ang Sorry for your loss.

Jackie Good for you to be back at it. And those voices in your head.....are they Donald and Mickey and Goofy?

Duckie Yikes--I hope your accident is not leaving any ill effects. Take care.

Off to figure out dinner...Oh yeah, did 3.75 miles today--things are picking up.

Maura

Ang - It's never easy, no matter whether you're expecting it or not. My sympathies to DH and all your family.

Judy - Thanks for the hug. Maybe I was just missing our morning TM dates!

Melanie - Welcome back!

Joan - Nice mileage. I'm with you - I'd take Disney over football, although I'm learning to like it more every day now that DD's high school team is winning!

Maura - I think I'd have more than 1 glass of wine. Good luck. I'm glad my company is privately held, but we're in the construction industry so things aren't much better. Good job on the 3.75 miles though! And unfortunately the voices in my head seem to be the little voice of reason arguing with the competitive runner spirit - nothing too exciting.

As for me - Had hoped to go out for a 3 mile trail run tonight, but rain was threatening and I'm not back into it enough yet to be THAT motivated! After sitting at home for an hour, DH suggested we take the dog for a walk so we did 1.8 - not as much as I'd hoped, but it's better than nothing. And Jeanneg (from the Walker's board) and I are meeting up Saturday for a 10 miler. Lots of WISH spirit to keep me going!

Jackie

Hang in there team WISH. Keep going with the repetitions, the miles, the minutes, the agony, the pain. The longer you stick with it, the easier it gets.

With that in mind, I cranked out 10 miles up, around, and down Diamond Head Crater again. I hydrated and fueled better, and had a very good run. 8:34 average per mile.

Have a great Aloha Friday everybody.

Hey guys sorry I have been absent but this is only a fly by as well. I have settled into my new diggs here in Hawaii. School is going well I got deans list all Summer and hope to keep that up. I have had to find new and creative ways to manage my time working full time and taking 6 classes so unfortunatly this was ignored. I am going to be doing the Eduro World Chapionships and the Honolulu Marathon this year but I will not be able to make it for Mickey. Not with flight costs. Been exploring my little spit of land by biking hiking swimming snorkling. Well I should get back to school work.
Aloha
