Hey, where did everyone disappear to?

Hello WISHers! I just wanted to pop in here and say "hello'' to all of you fast movers over here. I don't intend to ignore you guys, but with the walkers thread, the 2 Ohana threads, mean leaners, EEC, TofT...and several cruise threads I just can't find the time to make it over here.
I did my last 2 long weekend walks with Jackie and she made me realize how much I miss all of you. I LOVE training with Jackie because it makes the time go by so quickly. Our times have been a little bit of a disappointment because we really felt like we were tearing up the course and the Garmin wasn't confirming that. Did I mention that we were also talking.....ALOT! I guess that energy has to come from somewhere. ;)
Anyway, just wanted to give a shout out to everyone over here and hope to see lots of WISH green at TofT this coming weekend. (that includes you, Anne!)
have a great week!

Jeanne has been a lifesaver. I would never have gotten back on track to be able to do the City of Oaks Half in two weeks if it weren't for her, but we did 10 miles last weekend and 12 yesterday, so one way or another, I'll be able to finish on November 2nd!

I just witnessed the perfect embodiment of the WISH spirit. My brother has been doing cyclocross races for a few years now, but his 11 and 6 year old stepsons did their first races today. The 11 year old hadn't trained, but went out and rode hard, had fun, and was DLF. :sad1: He crossed the finish line and was completely unprepared for how exhausted he felt - almost threw up, cried, had no idea how he finished and didn't care. Can't wait to do it again! :woohoo: DD17 was so worried about the DLF, and I reminded her of the WISH motto and that it didn't matter at all to Hank - he's happy that it's over, but can't wait to try again. We're all so proud of him for finishing a really tough course. And little brother Tobias - I say he was first since the 2 kids in front of him were on Strider bikes that you don't really pedal! :)

Susie--don't know if you've found this info. or not yet. But in the final instructions for the Soaring Wings Half the time limit is a 4:00:00 finish time or 18:19 pace! Hope that helps!

Hey WISHers....
I guess things have been quiet around here.
I was visiting Mickey Mouse and just got back. Had a great time and was a BLAST doing the Richard Petty Drive-a-long experience!!!!!!
Wore my garmi on Saturday from the time we got off the bus at Hollywood Studios (8:05) til the time we left EPCOT around 3:30pm. Total walking was 7.52 miles!!! Pretty cool.
Got to tast some stuff at the Food and Wine!! Best was the Spatlese Wine in Germany!!!! yummmmmmm
Got in 6 miles at Pop this morning before heading over to Downtown Disney for some shopping and the back home!

Maura: I was thinking about you on Saturday when we were walking by Test Track. "That sure was nice of Maura back in May...." Did you get the feeling that someone was thinking about you??

Hope everyone's training is coming along nicely!!!

Hi everyone!!!

I recently joined a team - Jessica's Rabbits - and I have decided to start posting here. (Well posting again, I used to post about 3 years ago, but that was a long time ago. :) )

My current running goals are the Princess 1/2 in March and the Country Music Marathon in April. Then the local triathlon season starts, and I plan on doing at least 4 tris. And a couple of 5k just for fun. I am doing something new this winter, and I will not do any swimming or biking. I am going to work solely on my run until after the CMM. I won't have any problem with the swim, I am a natural fish - but I am a little worried about not biking. In fact I haven't been on my bike all summer either - but that is a another story for another day.

I hope everyone had a great weekend, and gets a great start to the week!

Happy Monday, everyone---or is that an oxymoron? (Where, oh where is deekaypee--there are words to bandy about!) My office space is getting progressively more quiet, since all the people who took up GM on early retirements are leaving. My space, which has a mish-mash of different groups--has at least seven people departing. So soon I'll have the place to myself again in the early a.m. (well, except for my boss--why is he getting here so early!)

Tracy Thanks for the virtual shout out-- I believe I was napping at the time and didn't hear you.;) Maybe I should round up another group to take up in January?

Was a mixed bag weekend for me. Training was fine, but sports teams were not. However in the spirit of sportsmanship---GO RAYS!

Maura

I'm also back from WDW and ready to get back into a regular routine. :lmao: I'm actually looking forward to more training walks and my fitness classes!

Back on the TM today. It was in the 30's this morning so off to the gym. I took yesterday off after the 15K race Saturday. I did a 40 min. run today and cross trained by mowing the lawn once it warmed up.

Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

Hello all! It's been a while since I posted and it looks to be a quiet week so far.

Jeanne: The garmin lies! :rolleyes1 if you felt like you were tearin' up the course than you so were! Then again if you felt pokey....go with the garmin hehe!

Jackie: Kudos to Hank and Tobias on their first races! How did the bikes go if the kids didn't petal them?

Stephanie: Whew I thought that was the cutoff time for a full at first :scared1:

Tracy: You lucky :donald: That was a neat idea tracking your miles with the garmin.

Kat: Welcome back! Why aren't you going to swim or bike at all this winter? Seems like it would be good crosstraining.

Joan: Oh burrr oh burrr oh burrrrr and here I was thinking it was getting cold with it hitting the 50's.

I've been getting my training in. Today I had a short run with sprints at the end. It seems like time is flying by this fall.

Any good Halloween costumes in the making?

Hey team - I have had a whole slew of personal issues and changes in my life lately, so I haven't been around. I did hit the TM yesterday for 50 minutes. Wow it felt good. It was barely 30 degrees this morning when I woke up. I am so not ready for winter!!!

Claire - They stand over the bikes and walk/run with them - I've never seen anything like it, but apparently it works. And those kids were moving! Here's a picture: http://stridersports.com/ And I'm with you - 50's is quite cold enough. I think we're supposed to drop into the 30's tonight, but at least the daytime temps are still in the 60's. It was 72 today when I went for my run.

Jen
- Welcome back! Apparently most people aren't/haven't been around lately...

Maura - Yes, oh yes! We LOVE Test Track!

Kat - Welcome back! I can barely find time to run - I so admire all you tri people who manage to train in 3 sports. Taking the winter off seems like a sane idea to me!

Tracy - Loved your pix of the Drive-a-Long. I'm so jealous of those of you who can just pop over any time you want. I wore my Garmin when we went to Busch Gardens in June - DD17 called me a dork, but it was fun seeing how much we really did walk, and it's a small park by Disney standards!

Just came back from a 3 mile run that was so much fun I did 3.7. Finally made it to W2/R1 intervals. Splits were 13:20, 13:03, and 12:38 (.7 was pretty much a cooldown) I'm determined that I will be able to run at least part of the Half on 11/2. I told Jeanne I want to start out walking it with her, and then if I'm feeling strong enough toward the second half I'll see what I can do for time. I was hoping I might be ready to run it with my Galloway group, but since today's the first time I've done W2/R1 and they're doing R2/W1, I don't see that happening!

Joan & Jen,

I hear you about winter temps. It got down to 84 degrees in the shade yesterday and today here in the islands. I almost had to put a shirt on. :lmao:

Well it has been cold in the morning, but walking 9 hole of golf at 11am, sunny, 65 degrees and beautiful fall color is a treat! Made me forget how bad my game is.;)

WHoo Hoo:woohoo:
I got the final word on my January work schedule!!
I am off from work from Thursday afternoon through to Monday. So, I get to do all the meets and get there in plenty of time on Thursday to check in and go to the EXPO without having to rush through it!!!

Yeah!!!

I want Racey Tracey's work schedule. LOL.

We'll see you at the expo on Thursday, it opens at noon.

Off topic: Our COSTCO gas has dropped to $2.89.9 per gallon for regular unleaded. First time I've seen it under $3.00 in about a year and a half. It's only temporary since the cost of crude oil spikes due to the summer hurricanes haven't hit our average prices yet.

Funny, all the regular gas stations are still charging $3.69.9 and up, and people are still buying their gas there. That's a difference of .80 cents a gallon, what are they thinking???

jmasgat - sorry about your teams... but to be an appropriate fan, I must praise my Titans for the 6-0!:cheer2: I never did get :confused3 baseball, so I am no help there.

lilouisianagal Fair question! My DH has Rheumatoid Arthritis, and I have a 2 yo and a 5 yo. So childcare has become a huge issue in training. Whether or not I get a set day/time to do a long run depends on whether or not DH is in an active flare up. Trying to add a decent length bike to such an unpredictable schedule was causing way to much stress. I am also trying to get rid of baby weight (can I still call it that after 2 years:rolleyes1 ) and I need to lose about 50 lbs. I have been swimming my entire life, so I am very efficient at it. It's no longer a big enough "bang" for my limited time. I also want to start Ironman training when youngest DS starts Kindergarten. So I know that I will have to be very comfortable with the Marathon. I only have 1 half and 1 full under my belt right now, and it seemed like a good time to really focus on the running. I am also making myself try new cardio equipment at the gym, hoping that new activities will help with weightloss and strengthening different parts of my muscles.

joan Good luck with that winter thing!!! I live in TN, and while we do have winter, it is only about 10 weeks long - and I hate every minute of it. It did reach almost 70 today, and I still had a vest on.

Jackie Great time on the splits!

Today was the first day of pre-school for DS 2 :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: FREEDOM!!!! I went to breakfast with my friend, and then we went shopping. I didn't do a run this morning. Knowing that I really did need to run today - I went to a retreat planning meeting, and then to the gym. I started at 8:30 - I still don't run well at night. I got out 4 hard earned miles in an hour. I kept having to stop and walk - my legs just didn't want to work. Then I did 15 minutes on the stair master - I still hate it. But I did climb 34 flights, and I am sure my tush will thank me later.

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!

I am obviously the Thread Killer this week :rotfl:

4 mile run today, plus a 2 mile walk - I am really pleased at how quickly my "speed" is returning. Before life got in the way - I was down to 9:00 min/miles. My run today was moderately easy, and I got 11:30 m/m. And I am pleased with that.

Just popping in to say Hello! Seems lots of folks are busy and training away!!!

January will be here before we know it!

Hi WISHers!

Why did it have to get cold?!? It really makes it hard to get out the door in the morning! DH is thrilled, but me... not so much. :sad2:

Good week for me this week. I finally broke under 11:00 since my surgery and knee injury. Today I ran 4 miles with an average pace of 10:25 and for the week my average pace was 10:52, ran close to 12 miles total. I'm very happy! :yay: Knee also held up!

I have been really discouraged cause I've been running much slower than before my surgery and have been really trying to push through it. I hope I don't fall back! Next week is my final week of my "starting all over" program and I'll run a 10K. I was looking for an event, but nothing I'm interested in. I guess I'll run it around my neighborhood. Then I switch over to my half marathon training program at the 6 miles LR point.

I am gonna sign up for the Gobble Jog 10K again Thanksgiving morning. I would like to beat my time from last year, but I'm trying not to set myself up for too much disappointment. I can still use last year's time for the Peachtree if all else fails.

Have an awesome weekend WISHers! :goodvibes
