Week of October 19 WISH Walking & Running Club

Hey Shan & Stacie,

Nice to know someone here other than me is reading this tread. :lmao: Everyone is either hiding, or heading to ToT this weekend.

Oh well, you can keep me company.

Shan, hang in there. It's gonna get easier and easier for you. Just keep up the reps. Oh, and it got down to 84 degrees in the shade here. Brrrrr. :rotfl2:

I'm off for either 8 or 10 miles shortly, after work. The sun has been setting really early here, so it gets too dark to see all the cracks in the sidewalks and potholes.

Have a good Aloha Friday!

Wow! Where is everyone! usually by Thursday night I am so far behind in the weekly thread I can't catch up. Everybody must be very busy. I can totally relate to that these days!

Jeff-send some of that warm weather my way....it has been getting quite chilly here the past few days! Also--gas here in NJ is around 2.55!! It keeps going down, so I am interested to see how low it gets!

TriMom--Way to fight through and finish those workouts! The speed will come back. That is where I am right now..trying to get my pace a little faster, and it is happening a little at a time, so I will take it!

Stacie--hey there!!! Hope the training is going well!!

Shan--keep up the good work! The speed will come, just stick with it. Glad to hear your knee is holding up!

Hope everyone has a great Friday!!!

It's all coming back to me now.

8 miles, 8:26 average pace. Now on to my 30K on Sunday. :thumbsup2

Happy Aloha Friday everyone.

Hello!!

Been trying to get in my miles through the rain. Was able to wait about 45min last night and then had a break in the weather and out I went.

I hear that rain is expected for the ToT, hope everyone stays dry!!

I have work this AM and then off to the University of Miami for Alumni Band practice. Supposed to perform with the band tomorrow, but with all the rain, not sure if that will happen. (Go Saxophones!!)

Take care all you rockin WISHers!!

Racey Tracy

Rest day Friday for me--yeah!

Shan Congrats on your improving time. Hope this is a sign of more good things to come.

Jeff Good luck in your 30k. We will be expecting a blazing fast time from you!

Tracy I never knew there wer such things as Alumni Bands--but then again, I am the least musical (instrument-wise) person in the family (but the only one who can carry a tune!)

TriMom Hope you find a good way to shake up your fitness routine. I found myself in the same situation at the beginning of the year, and look what happened---I ended up beginning to run, and doing the 1/2 in January!

Have a great weekend, all.

Maura

KAt - Welcome back!!! Not that I can takl, as I'm ghorrible with XT, but it does seem liek at least soem bike time would be good XT. Excuse me while I turn green with envey about your swimming ability. WHile I do swim like a fish, I meant that literally. I do my best under water. ;) On the surface, not so good.

Maura - Yeah, our teams just hurt this year. Going to see teh WIngs tonight. That better go well, because I think I have a long day at the big football game tomorrow. not to mentioon 40s and rain. Just liek OSU last year, except I'm afraid it oculd be worse. :sad2: Want ot emet us fro 6 at Kensington tomorrow? :)

Hi everyone! Just realized that this week should have been the 1st week in my 12 week 1/2 training program... Oops! I did a half at the end of September and have been doing smaller 3 mile runs ever since so it shouldn't be too hard to catch up. I figure I'd better start posting so I won't have an excuse not to run.

This is my first year running in cold weather and boy does it take some getting use to. I don't mind being out in the cold that much but I always find it takes me a long time to warm up once I get back inside. :confused3

Jeff - Good luck with your 30K! Btw, can you send some of that warm sunny weather my way?

Shan - Hang in there! Glad to hear your knee is doing well. Knee pain is no fun.

Tracy - We're expecting rain here on the weekend too. I'll go out as long as it's not too cold. Otherwise I'll be indoors on the dreadmill (ugh!)

Have a great weekend everyone and keep up the good work!

Very nice today even with the little rain that looks like light snow fallin. Very overcast with a great breeze. Thank goodness it never rained while rehearsing outside. HIgh today was 83!!! Will try to send some up to those who would like some warmth.
Here is a photo of the stuff we get for Alumni band participation. We all wear the shirts tomorrow and march with the band at half-time. WIll try to take photos while there if its not raining too much.

Glad to see some people popping in here!

TriMom - Looks like the speed is coming back with no problem at all!

Shan - Too bad you're not in Raleigh. We've got a 5K & 10K on the 16th. I'm probably gonna pass since I'm doing a Half on the 2nd, but I may change my mind before race day. All I need is someone to run it with!

Jeff
- We're the non-TOT gang. I told Jeanne last weekend that when I first started running I never planned to do a half marathon, but the first January I was on the boards it was so lonely that I was determined that the next year I would be at WDW with everyone!

Laurie - Our gas has made it to $2.77. We're planning to drive to WDW in January, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it just keeps dropping.

Vicky - I got cold last weekend (gee, temps in the 50's I think?) and had to take a hot shower and crawl under a blanket for a couple of hours. I didn't think I'd ever warm up. But it was the longest distance I'd done post-injuries, and I think my body rebelled.

Tracy - Alumni band sounds really cool! DD17 is now waiting on her first acceptance letter - she wants to be a marching Pirate at ECU. pirate: It's all about the band program for her.

The rain has started here and is expected to continue throughout the night and into the morning. I'd really like it to stop before my run tomorrow... I think I'm going to do 10 with the slowest of the Galloway groups, then if we're done in time I'm supposed to have breakfast with DD's band before they leave for their competition. Then I have to be AT the competition by noon to see them perform. No time for naps tomorrow. :sad1:

Hello everyone....

Good Saturday Morning to all the NoN-ToTers!! That's us, the ones not there.

However, I did my own ToT 4 miles this morning. I have to say the course was pretty good. Water stations were not needed as the park had a water fountain. It happened to be sunny outside, when usually for the ToT it is dark, was a different experience. No one came out to scare me, which I was disappionted, but oh well. Crossed the finish line and got a great little bottle of G2 as my reward!! :rotfl: :lmao:

I am off to the UM/Wake Foresst game as it starts at Noon and I am leaving in an hour and a half.

Have a great training day everyone.

Hi everyone! I am so jealous of those at WDW doing TOT!!! I wish I was there! Instead I went to the gym for my 5 miler. I wanted to do it outside in the park, but the weather did not cooperate today. Tomorrow will be a 10 miler. This is the second time I will do back to back runs on the weekend in preparation for the Goofy. Two weeks ago I did it with no problem, so hopefully this weekend will be the same!

Tracy--Hope you have fun at the game! Sounds like fun....I participate every year in my high school's alumni band activities, it is always fun going back!

To everyone else, have a great weekend!!!

Off to the great big sandbox for my semiannual "vacation", see you all in the new year! I'll hopefully be able to get on from time to time to read all the great race reports...

Aloha Oe Matt,

Take care over there. And tell Cheryl to take care over here.

Thank you for serving and protecting our country, from all of us on the WISH team.

Keep us posted so we know you're safe.

Mahalo Bruddah,

Hi all. I do not check in as often as I should. I do try to check in with my weekly miles to team Buzzies.

I am jealous of you all with cold weather. We are still warm in the 80's during the day. I want to break out my cold gear.

Still training here. I have the Santa Clarita marathon half next weekend and the Las Vegas marathon half coming up. I just recently signed up for the Red Rock marathon half in March. One of these days, I'm going to jump into training for the 26.2.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I look forward to reading about all the TOT reports.
