Week before Pres' Day, what would you recommend for avoiding crowds?

We are planning our first trip to US/IoA. Have left it late, I know. ("Fiscal Responsibility" vs. optimism. Optimism is winning )

Sun Feb 13 to Monday Feb 21 inclusive. 4 day tickets are a good deal. I don't think we'll "need" 4 days, but rather than cramming stuff into 2 days, I'm perfectly happy to spend fewer park hours per day, finding and revisiting favs during quieter times. Our main objective is WWoHP, and we're not into the intense coasters. I know the holiday is the 21st, so I think we're better off doing Universal parks early in our trip. By the holiday weekend we want to be relaxing at the villa with nothing left to do.

Nothing much else on our plate. Tues 17 is dd's bday so probably not a park day. No Disney tickets this time, just low-key family time.

We are going Th and F (Feb 17 and 18) and am reading that the crowd to even get into HP are long, but is that old news or real news?

We'll be there Thurs the 17th through Sun. I'm hoping the crowds won't be too bad on Thurs & Fri so we can see everything and be able to leave early if it's too crowded on the weekend.

I moved up our visit arriving the 16th......IoA day will be the 17th. I am hoping for small crowds.
