Week Before or After Thanksgiving Week?

Hi, experts! Our two biggest factors in planning Disney vacations are low crowds and free dining. Do you think our chances are better the week before or week after Thanksgiving week? Or is there a better week (where we could still enjoy the pool) that would meet the criteria?

Also, we're considering splitting our trip with 2 different resorts. Does that require separate reservations or can they do that on one package?

I could be wrong but I don't believe free dining has been offered the week after Thanksgiving for the past two years. I've been checking cause that is when my dd's bday is and wanted to plan a visit around that. I think also that the week before Thanksgiving has lower crowds in general. I'm not sure if that week gets free dining offers or not.

FD was not offered the week after Thanksgiving last year. You had to be checking in on Nov 1, Nov 9-20 and it went right to Dec 12th so any dates in between were blacked out.

You cannot do a split stay and get FREE dining with both stays unless you also want to buy the required 2-day tickets for both stays. That would probably negate any savings free dining would give you.
