Week before or after Columbus Day?

Hello everyone! Well,we just got back last night from 6 great nights at the Wilderness Lodge! I think the day after is just the worst- so, I am planning my next trip now! I am taking my mom in October, woohoo :goodvibes

So, here is my question:

I know that Columbus weekend is busy there, BUT I also wanted to get a value rate if possible, thus allowing us to stay the AKL or MAYBE even the Poly (where I have always wanted to, but never stayed). So, I was looking at checking in Monday October 1, and checking out the Sunday after- this would put me in value season. However, this would also be the weekend before Columbus Day. Option #2: Check in Monday October 8, and check-out Sunday the 14th. (I could also move check-in to Tuesday the 9th, and check-out the following Monday.)

What are your thoughts??? We would be doing a lot of shows, as mom gets motion sick pretty badly, so ride lines wouldn't be our biggest concern. I would probably fast pass a few things like ToT and Soarin. The parks we would spend the most time in would probably be Epcot for the FOod & Wine Festival, and MGM. Oh, I would also like to do MNSSHP- do you think they will have it both of those weeks?

ALl opinions are welcome!

Anyone?? I would really aprpeciate any help. I am afraid to wait tooo long to book for fear that MNSSHP and the F&WF might impact crowd levels in the hotels!

Thanks!

p.s. Trip Report to come on my recent trip.... :goodvibes

We were there from 9/30-10/9 which was Columbus Day. It was busy but manageable.I would suggest getting to the parks early and using Fastpass. And yes they should have MNSSHP both weeks,we went Thurs. Oct. 5th. Have a great time,we did.

We were just there Oct 1st - Oct 7th. We saw all the shows that we wanted to. If we couldn't use FP's on rides, the lines usually were 20-30 mins long. I know there were at least 2 parties that week. The crowds were not too bad, go early in the morning so you can get more done.

we were there from 9/29 - 10/8 (the day before Columbus Day) this year and the crowds were very light. We didn't wait more than 15 minutes for anything, and only used fastpass twice. The Sat. of Columbus day weekend was noticeably more crowded at MK, but still very easily managed.

1 week later would be better.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate everyone's help, and I think I am leaning towards the first week- Oct 1-7, so I can get the value season rate. With the value rate and hopefully an AAA rate, we will be able to swing AKL- mom wants to try for the Poly too, so hopefully with a little pixie dust mayeb we can make it happen!

Off topic, but someone might know anyway. I was thinking of getting an annual pass, as I could see myself back within the year ;) I know that they often have AP rates during this season- does anyone know the chances of getting a discount at Poly, or how good it would be??

Thanks again!
