We are planning a family trip for the week before Memorial Day, 2005. We plan on leaving May 21 and staying through the 28th.

I live on the Gulf Coast, but still wondering how hot it is in Orlando that time of year. Also, what the crowds are like that week. My husband and I traveled to WDW in May 03 and I remember it being hot in the middle of the day but being nice in the mornings and late afternoons. We were only their 4 days though, and it was over a weekend and I know the crowds are different on Fri, Sat, Sun.

This time we will be traveling with 13 people and staying a much longer time.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

We went this past May during that same time frame. Weather-wise, it's pretty hot but not unbearable. We made good use of our mister fan though, so don't be expecting spring weather. And we went through lots of water. I'm from the Gulf Coast myself, so just add about 10º onto your normal weather at that time of year.

Crowds were manageable. If you use fast pass well, you'll do fine. We did pretty much everything we wanted to do. The only thing we messed up on was Fantasmic. We usually go in February or early December, and we usually get there about an hour early. This time, we were there an hour early and only had standing-room only - it was awful trying to hold a 6 yr old and a 3 yr old so they could see. Won't make that mistake again.

Other than that, it's a pretty good time to go. I think I still prefer the cooler months though.

With a group of 13, you might have some senior citizens.?? We've gone 3 times in May and our last trip was with our 70 yr. old parents. MIL got really HOT. I would plan for the older members to be more affected by the May heat than the hearty young adults. Maybe factor the afternoons to have a long nap/read option for those that need it. Otherwise, I LOVE May. Have fun!
