Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

I just tracked my package for fun. No wonder the USPS is going out of business. The MB are shipped from Memphis, TN. I live in Nashville which is about 3 hours away. My MB are currently in BENSENVILLE, Illinois.... For those that are not familiar with the area, it's a beautiful suburb outside CHICAGO!!! Seriously USPS!?!

Mine have gone to Bensville, IL to York, PA and now back to Bensville! I live outside DC. They were only 3 hours away in York! The second set supposedly shipped 2 days ago, but are still sitting in Memphis. The USPS is just so bad, all this traveling is wasting money.

26 days until we start our drive. We have a mini road trip leaving this Thursday so I need to be cleaning and packing for that one but I can't get my mind off Disney! I need to order our BOG breakfast but first I Need to buy some French toast sticks to see if the kids like them.

With the lunch menu changes at LTT, @Iowamomof4 do you know if DH can order the AYCTE platter and I can order let's say the burger...the kids get their meals too but we can all eat off the platter? I know this is allowed at Whispering Canyon. My kids really enjoyed the meat from the dinner platter in 2014. We have DDP.

I haven't heard. I've always read that wasn't even allowed at Whispering Canyon though. Perhaps it depends on the server?

Hi all! Tomorrow we all get to say we're going to Disney this month!!!

I'm starting to second guess one of my days. Opinions wanted!!

On Monday 11/28 we're going to Universal. We're being picked up at 7:45 a.m. (yikes) so should be there for opening.
Right now, our plan is to be picked up at 5pm to make a 5:55 pm dinner reservation at 1900 Park Fare.
Do you think we'll be wanting to stay longer at Universal? If so, I can make reservations at the new Chocolate Emporium.
Or is it worth it to see the Grand Floridian at Christmas time and experience the dinner at 1900 Park Fare? It's our only chance to get over there.

Would love opinions especially from those with Universal experience! My daughter and I are just now reading Harry Potter (Book 2 now) together and getting SUPER excited to see it in person!

Are you doing both Universal parks in 1 day? Or just one park? We have now adopted going to Universal for 2 days during our Disney trips, its a great break and just something new and different. If it was me, I would cancel and spend as much time as possible and maybe eat at one of the HP restaurants or like you said the emporium or one of the other many food options. Me personally would hate to be on that time table and especially 5 pm leaving you can encounter rush hour traffic, or any other traffic issues. But only you can make that decision. I will say UNiversal is much easier to plan, no reservations no fast passes just go and enjoy. You will need the park to park pass if you want to ride the hogwarts express

Strange...our server actually encouraged us to do it this way at WC. I had no idea it wasn't "allowed".

Does any one know about how long is Finding Nemo musical at AK? Making sure I have time between FPs. It goes every hour but I can't imagine it lasts that long.

Yes, we're doing both parks in 1 day. We've got the park-to-park tickets, and we sprang for Express passes so we won't spend too much time in line, at least at the non-Harry Potter things. Such a bummer that the passes don't work on HP!!

We are planning for lunch at Three Broomsticks. Our plan is, more or less, to do:
Universal Studios Florida
Escape from Gringotts
Transformers
Horror Makeup Show (maybe; I just loved as a kid but may cut this out)
Despicable Me
Shrek
ET
Men In Black
Ollivanders (or do the one in IOA)
Hogwarts Express to IOA
Islands of Adventure
Lunch - Three Broomsticks
Ollivanders
HP Forbidden Journey
Flight of the Hippogriff
Pteranadon Fliers
Spider Man

Many of the other rides I think my family/kids are ok with skipping. So, is this more than a 9-5 day? The park itself is only open until 7 anyhow.

Sounds like a great plan. That is a lot to do in that time frame without the urgency of clock watching. We personally don't like that way of park visiting, but everyone is different. There is a lot to just walk around and see in the HP areas, if you do the olivanders show, that takes some time, and then if you get the interactive wand you will need time to do the spells and such. So basically only you guys can decide if its worth skipping the dinner or not. With what you paid for the P2P and then the express passes I would want to get all my money worth out of it. We usually hang in the City walk area they have 2 real fun smaller 18 hole themed mini golf courses, there is just a lot to see and do.

Just as additional information that you may or may not know especially if you find that your family likes UNiversal. If you get a room at one of their 3 premium hotels you get 2 days worht of express passes included for free with your room. So without knowing your family dynamics it is always cheaper for us to get a room for about 250 or so then it is to buy everyone express passes. When we do it we just leave our Disney room empty for the night and just bring 1 overnight bag with everyones stuff in it. This way only 1 round trip uber and we can just do the parks more relaxed and basically save money (which is rare when planning a WDW trip). ***be prepared to have your family spoiled by Express passes.

Also remember to ride the train both ways, different each way

This is really helpful - thank you! I am strongly considering dropping the 1900 Park Fare dinner and eating at City Walk. It will give us a lot more flexibility in our day I think. I also hadn't figured in rush hour traffic. Hmmm.

PS - if you could only ride the train one way, which is better? Also, is one of the Ollivanders shops better than the other?

If I was to only ride it one way I would have to say from Diagon Alley to Hogsmeade. Reason being you get the whole train station feel and with running thru the brick wall at gate 9 3/4. Im not sure if the movie was better either way but the station is a much better experience in Universal Studios than Hogsmeade

As far as olivanders, they are the same more or less to us, again and not to sound like a broken record but Diagon Alley one is just so much more immersive. That is the one we do, last time my daughter was picked for the wand. It was a cool memory, but was forced to buy a second wand for her "because she had to have the new one that chose her" lol
