Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

We haven't informed dd's online Spanish teacher yet. I know they have a test or quiz while we'll be gone and since it's so close to Christmas break it'll be challenging for her to get her work made up after we get home. I've been thinking we'd wait until November 1 to let her know. The good news is, dd is getting a 99% in the class so at least the teacher knows she's a good, serious student. I think that'll help.

Good luck! The schools would always make me feel terrible about missing school too. Then I started thinking when my kids reflect on our lives together I highly doubt they will say "thank goodness mom help us get that perfect attendance award." I hope they say "remember the time when we went to Disney..." This year I think my daughter will be on vacation for 2 days, then "sick" 2 days.

Every year the kids miss a week for a family trip, every year the teachers are great about it, and every year we get a nasty threatening letter from the administration. I'm considering claiming Disney as a religious observance.

Good morning everyone! I recently discovered disboards and this thread (I realize I am super late to the game) and am excited to finally have people to share my disney planning stresses with! My family doesn't want to hear it because they don't understand why I am planning everything so early...if only they knew...

I am traveling to Disney from Nov 27-Dec 2nd with my DH, soon-to-be 3 year old b/g twins (getting in our first Disney trip while they are still free), my parents and brother. We are staying at the Contemporary and I already have so many questions for you Disney veterans!

For right now we have planned: MK on 11/28 (dinner res at CP and FP+ for Belle, PPF and 7DMT), AK on 11/29 (early dinner res at Rainforest, but hoping for something at Tusker to open, FP+ for Safaris, Lion King and Nemo), HS on 11/30 (early dinner res at sci fi, FP+ for ToT, Star Tours and TSM) and Epcot on 11/30 (dinner res at Biergarten and FP+ for Spaceship Earth, Character spot and FEA).

Looking forward to reading about all of your trips!

Do you mean Epcot on 12/1? Thursday? Do you plan to take advantage of EMH? Your plans sound great! I'm jealous of your stay at the Contemporary! That'll be amazing, I'm sure. :D

Oops, yes totally meant 12/1! I definitely plan to take advantage of EMH as we wake up super early anyway. I forgot we also have a res at Chef Mickey's on 11/30 at 8:10 in the morning, but hoping for something even earlier to open up if that's possible!

Sounds like you have a fun trip planned. My family thinks I am crazy for all the early planning too. Of course they will have no problem enjoying all my hard work in November :-)

Thank you! And I make sure to remind my family of that daily. I was super bummed when a bunch of the reservations I wanted were not available at the 180 day mark, which made me realize that I was not crazy for planning early!

Welcome! Have you checked Tusker House lately for the 29th? A bunch of times for dinner seemed to open up there over the past week or so...

Thanks for the tip! I actually didn't decide I wanted to go to Tusker House until today, so just started looking this AM and set up a Touring Plans reservation finder for it. We originally had reservations at Tiffins until I realized it required 2 dining credits (good thing I noticed that now) and quickly switched to Rainforest because it had availability.

We will be at Epcot that day too! It will be our first EMH experience - we have typically avoided them, but it just worked out this way this time!

I didn't even think about avoiding EMH and am now slightly nervous that the parks will be packed on those days. We had planned to hop back out to Epcot and MK after the kids are asleep (grandpa will babysit) on the nights they have late EMH, but now I am afraid the parks will be jammed! I also decided our MK day before Touring Plans changed the crowd prediction from a 6 to a 9...hoping they are wrong!

Anyone else notice the last few days the Merida meet n greet time has moved to 9:50? This is from the MDE app. But it also shows Jessie as still meeting which I heard she was leaving MK Oct 2. Meeting Merida is on our must do list this year.

Ok I feel kind of silly. I just checked the MDE app on my iPad and meridians time is now the normal 9:15am. And Jessie and woody gone from MK. Apparently the android app was showing inaccurate info.

Does anyone bring glow necklaces for the night time stuff? Do you actually use them?
yes and I think it will be more helpful this year because we aren't used to being in The parks after dark since we normally go in September and are done by 8pm. I think the glo stuff will help us keep track of our kids and the stroller! I'm waiting for 90% off Target Halloween clearance to stock up on last minute things like this!

We will be there too! Going to test track first then to soarin (no fastpasses) then late breakfast at garden grill. We love EMH mornings!

I just saw 3 new refurbs scheduled for January and later. I'm hoping that means the refurb schedule for late November-December is set now. Obviously something urgent could always come up, but at least they don't likely have anything else planned.

Gloves are a great idea! I can get quite chilly in the evening.

I'm planning on being some glow necklaces, bracelets and such.

I've given both DD and DS of each telling thier teachers that they are going to miss 7 days of school. They are in 12th and 9th grade. I know DD has told a few of them. DS told his social studies teacher, he said great you can so a report on WS. He's in global studies this year.

I'm not really worried both of them are good students and they should have the work before Thanksgiving. They'll be able to work on it before we leave on Saturday.

So I just read the thread about sdfp. Has anyone done this lately and knows that it will work?
