Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

I was just gonna ask about whether anyone else wears Disney-themed clothes each park day! BFF is trying to coordinate this for her family; me, I've got a Beauty & the Beast tank and a Mouseketeer shirt so far. Debating whether to keep going. Torn between looking 'Disney' and wearing the most flattering and/or comfy clothes I own.

During the day I wear comfy exercise clothes that I don't in sweating in. I learned early on o get very crabby if I start to sweat in regular clothes!

We do not do special Disney clothes. It's not really in the budget. We have a few Star Wars shirts and dd7 (almost 8) has some Frozen ones. :)

I hear ya! We live on a very small budget so that we can "afford" to go on vacation every year. I call it my "stay at home schooling mom therapy" ;)

We have ADR for Narcoossee's Friday night of our trip (day after Thanksgiving), California Grill Saturday, Flying Fish Monday and Wave Wednesday. I don't feel that I need to keep all of them due to $$$. We are staying at Beach Club so almost tempted to try YS. I feel like I need to choose b/w either Narcoossee's or CG for watching Wishes at dinner. Then either YS or FF for the other. DH has made it clear he wants to go back to Wave so that one is to keep the DH happy since he's not a fan of Disney anyways. lol

Thoughts?
Depends on what your DH likes? ;) I have not experienced any of these restaurants since 2012 so I'm basing it on what I have read from here. for fireworks, I read people on these boards like the view from California grill better due to the view from the top. Food wise I seem to hear more better reviews for narcoosees though. Between ff and ys, Ff seems to have really positive reviews since it reopened :) fwiw, I made dinner reservations for narcoosees and ff. :) Just to add, I will bring my toddler with us to those restaurants too :)

We don't have meltdowns. She has had maybe 1 or 2 ever. She learned really quick that we don't respond to meltdowns. She does however get hyper when she's tired. She's gotten on a kick lately that she doesn't want to nap. Always has quiet time in her room though. If she doesn't nap she goest to be about 30-45m earlier. I'm worried slightly about the nap situation. My gut is that with all the stimulation that she will actually crash. Otherwise it will be early nights for us. I still have no faith in a stroller nap though.

You are so blessed that she doesn't melt down. I guess we got off to a rough start with DS6. He has sensory processing issues so he's really prone to meltdowns and has a hard time getting over things. He's much better than when he was 3 though! Thankfully his 3 younger siblings aren't as prone to meltdowns. But I will say my oldest has the sweetest heart and now when he melts down he can go off by himself and then come back to apologize.

My kids don't nap in strollers. Only the baby naps at home and even my 3 year old is past the nap stage. I tried to fight it at first but her brothers were just having too much fun and she didn't want to miss out. The 4 kids share 2 bedrooms in our house so even going to her own room during naptime didn't work! Oh well, the joys of having a small house full of people!

I was slightly anxious about taking her to these fine dining restaurants but it is Disney after all.

She has been such an easy child which is part of the reason she is our only one. Of course she is jumping out of her crib like she's sky diving as we speak. I don't want to give up nap time!!!!!!

I think it should be fine especially since you said she does not melt down. :) mine does every so often but generally does ok at restaurants. I normally bring some small toys to keep him busy. If it gets bad, I would tell them to pack it up for me (contingency) My reservations are around 5:30 though so I expect that the restaurant will have more kids at that time. :) good luck on your choices!

Had a yard sale today and raised $300 for Disney!!:banana::banana:

How much money does everyone bring for extras?
We have FD, so most food is covered. We don't but many souvenirs but like the occasional(daily:love::mickeybar) ice cream sweet treat. So I don't think we will need too much for extras but I would hate to underestimate.

Don't forget to factor in tips for the TS meals! :)

Last year we bought maybe $120 in souvenirs all week...Ears for each kids, 1 Lightsaber, 1 plush and some random light ups and pins. I expect we won't spend much this trip on souvenirs since we were "just" there.

I got DD a $30 Maleficent dragon (still can't believe I did that) and a $15 Simba. She passed up on Roo & Eeyore at Epcot. I got a couple postcards to mail to grandparents and a coffee mug for myself. Our big cost was food. But since you're doing DDP I would just consider tips. We did not get a single "treat" to eat!

Speaking of clothes and temperatures, I'm wondering how it'll be on days where we're away from the hotel for a good 12+ hours. I'd hate to be warm in the middle of the day then get cold at night because I didn't feel like carrying around a jacket!
I never wore more than a thin sweatshirt or long sleeve t. I would just carry something lightweight. DD was still wearing shorts the evening that it rained at MK. I had her sweatshirt in the backpack just in case.

My little one picked a Simba at AK. They each got a sword from PoC. They didn't ask for anything else! I may pick up another Alex and Ani this year...

Empire strikes back is on TV right now - I'm in my fave Star Wars hoodie and working on my FP Plan with cup of hot tea. Good Disney night :surfweb:

Star Wars all day tomorrow!! Do you remember way back in the 80s when they had Star Wars cereal? I remember it tasting so good! So random, I know :)

I saw that! Oddly enough- my kids decided to watch force awakens tonight and my 7yo asked if we could watch the old ones tomorrow...the force is strong with that one, he must have sensed the marathon on TV haha

Is anyone doing something with an elf on the shelf and the trip?

Ours typically appears on Dec 1 although I know lots of people whose elves come the day after thanksgiving. I'm trying to decide how I want to play it. I've been loosely planning to maybe have our elf come either the day before we leave or the morning of the trip and have a note for the kids telling them to have fun on the trip and he'll be waiting here when they get back. I also have been planning to surprise them with their Disney tshirts and some trinkets for the trip so was thinking maybe the elf could bring those.
