The current rumor (and the one I believe the most) is that there will either be no parade on non-party nights or they will move FOF to night time. There are still those who are holding out hope that Paint the Night from DL will make its way to MK, but it sounds like Disney is looking to cut costs (earnings report is due today, should be interesting) and axing the parades saves a lot of $$. :(

those parades are a HUGE part of Disney, and play a HUGE part in crowd dispersion. If they eliminate a parade it is going to really screw with wait times. the cost cutting while increasing ticket prices is getting out of control! ugh!

We'll certainly know something within the next few weeks. I couldn't agree more though. Without the parade on non-party days, well, MK will be challenging for sure.

Well... I'm tired of twiddling my thumbs so I guess it's time to go over our schedule again, from start to finish. We now have from 11/27-12/6 (travel days are 11/26 and 12/7) to vacation at WDW. That's 10 FULL days!!! Surely that is plenty of time to get our fill of the parks as well as hit up some other fun things (e.g. seeing the animals at AKL, exploring Disney Springs, maybe hitting a couple ADR's outside the parks) yet I find that our days are packed to the gills with park time and I'm having trouble deciding where we can maybe do just 1/2 day at a park so we have time for some of the other fun things we want to do.

I think most of the people in this thread are doing shorter trips than ours, but do any of you have suggestions about how to decide where we can cut back on park time so we can fit in other things? I guess I've been thinking DHS and AK are parks that we might enjoy plenty in a couple 1/2 days rather than 2 full days. I don't know though... it just feels wrong to not be in the parks as much as possible. I need to be realistic though. For example, we did Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor at least 2 times last time and I know once is enough for that attraction this time. All of the DHS shows are the same way, once each trip is plenty. At AK, we might not even do FOTLK or Nemo this time (did both last time and enjoyed them but no one is clamoring to go back). And really, no one in my family probably wants to walk the animal trails more than once. If we do a couple half days at AK we can hit a couple animal trails each day and then have time for the kids to play at the boneyard and the teens to ride EE over and over. I want to see Flights of Wonder as well, and we missed Rafiki's whatever it is last time, so that's definitely on the list. I don't think anyone wants to ride Primeval Whirl or Triceratop Spin and most of the travel party could go either way on whether we do Dinosaur or not. That doesn't sound like a list that will take 2 full days, does it? I'm sure we want to ride KS at dusk once, and ds15 can ride EE A LOT and not get tired of it. But really, how much time will all that take?

We did all our must dos at AK in 1 full day, if I were you I would probably split AK into 2 half days - one for the morning safari, some of the trails, EE, etc. Then plan to do a non park activity that evening. then the next AK day have your dusk safari and FP's planned and do something else in the AM and get to the park later to do the nighttime stuff!

We always block off at least one half day we call free time. During that half day, the grown-ups decide who wants to go do whatever. Last trip all the boys decided to ride ToT and RnR at Hollywood Studios and swim at the resort while the girls went to Disney Springs and to the tea party at Grand Floridian. Sometimes we all need a break from all that family togetherness to come back together refreshed and ready to roll as a group again.

I did a couple sample plans at Touringplans and found that if I split AK into 1/2 day for Africa and 1/2 day for Asia/Dinoland we can get most stuff done in 2-3 hours each day. I think this will work! Now to do the same for DHS.

Thanks for letting me talk it out. :) I love this group!

I am still hoping they discontinue the Early Morning Magic at HS - we were planning to go on Monday 11/28, but if they have that on our Monday, I don't want to have to compete with both EMM folks and early ADR folks for Jedi Academy sign up. Sigh.

It's struggling. They've already canceled the Wednesday events due to lack of interest so I wouldn't be surprised if they don't extend this beyond its initial run. Even if they do, people have been reporting that not many attendees have been signing up for JTA so I think you'd still be fine at rope drop.

I just saw this now! I go to the beach and miss tons of news!

Maybe, but I would prefer to not have to worry about it!

You know what's a great distraction from a Disney planning lull?

A pulmonary embolism. I'm now sitting in the hospital for probably 2 days and then have to sort out blood thinners and such long term. Im apparently a walking cautionary tale for birth control causing blood clots. Whomp whomp.

This better not restrict me from getting on a plane in 107 days :charac2::sad:

How scary!! Hope you are feeling better soon and it doesn't interfere with any plans!
