Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

Does anyone here know if there's a way to use your Chase Disney rewards to pay down your Disney balance without converting them to gift cards first?
I found an answer to this question in case anyone else wants to know. My TA says I can indeed use my rewards toward my wdw vacation balance. :) Most of you probably knew that already, but I wasn't sure.

i was wondering if the Chase Disney was worth it. It always seems like I sign up for this stuff then find out I really won't save or I have to just through 99 hoops to get the deal. Can you still buy GC with Target red card and save 5% ?

Yes, Target still offers 5% off Disney gift cards when using the red card as payment. I use my Disney Visa to pay for all my groceries and things all month. None of my other cards offer much better than 1% anyway (I know some people have better rewards deals from other cards) so I like getting something I can put toward a vacation I'm planning to take anyway. I have over $300 in rewards money right now and that is just since last fall. After this trip, we'll be taking a break from wdw but I'll keep using the card. I imagine I'll have quite a bit set aside by the time we do our next trip in a few years. Any bit helps!

I have the chase card, which I never use except for a very rare special offer...most of them are also available to the public soon after the visa offer...I don't do the POINTS thing ,so if there was an annual fee for it, I'd probably cancel it. I do use the Disney Vacation Account, and the target red card, but that's the extent of my "discounting" although I know there are many who do lots of churning successfully.

You guys are making me feel like a thread-killer! :duck:

I posted this on another thread but was curious to get your take here as well:

We are flying SW on our flight to MCO and we have to catch a connecting flight in St Louis. We only have a 50-minute window to land, get off the plane, and catch the next flight. It's the last SW flight from STL to MCO that night. This is happening the Monday after Thanksgiving, so weather is a potential factor.

How nervous would you be if you were me? Nervous enough to switch to a Saturday night flight and spend $230-$330 on a hotel near the airport (MCO) for 2 nights before transferring to wdw to begin your vacation? That's my dilemma right now. We can change our flight to Saturday night for the same price (Sunday is WAY more expensive so that's not an option, neither is changing to Monday morning) but then we would have to stay somewhere for Saturday night and Sunday night before we check in on Monday at AoA. I'm awfully tempted to switch to Saturday night, dh is hesitant. We're on a pretty tight budget but I'm worried something will go wrong and we'll miss our connection in STL and end up stuck overnight there. I'd rather have that cushion of a couple days just in case we have a travel snafu. OTOH, maybe the odds of us having any problems are very low and we should just take our chances with the Monday night flight and save the $$ to spend at Disney or something.

Thanks!

The chances are probably low that you'll have issues. That said, 2 years ago our flight was delayed due to an issue with the plane, and we ended up waiting 4 hours before boarding, so you never know. Rather than stay off property, is one of the All Star Resorts available? I'd rather stay there, already be on property, and have Disney move my bags for me!

Yes, that would be nice. However, with 6 of us, that means we either need 2 rooms or a suite and either one would cost close to $500 for the two nights vs. $230-$330 if we stay off property. Plus, with being in a regular hotel we would get free breakfast which also adds to the value. I'm waiting for the RO discounts to come out beyond November 5 so we can decide for sure, but I'm guessing off property will be the way we would have to go.

Darn. Disney really should make things easier for bigger families!

We flew MCO - GRR and had a 50 minute layover is STL last fall. It worked out perfect - the gate was only like 3 down, and we had time to get off, grab food and bathroom and then get in line to board. I think you'll be fine.

This is encouraging. I think the part that freaks me out more than the 50-min layover is the fact that it's the last flight for the night. If anything goes wrong (if we get delayed at all on the first leg or anything) we'll be stuck until the next morning at least. I'd feel significantly better if we were taking a morning flight as there are several SW flights from STL-MCO throughout the day. :rolleyes2 But you're probably right, most likely nothing will go wrong. I'm just a worrier.

Oh I'd be a nervous wreck too! Last fall was our first time flying with kids and I was prepared for the worst possible scenario at every turn. Also I may have packed an entire backpack with snacks and new trinkets and crap to keep the kids entertained for 2.5 hours on the plane. I think only 2 things got used haha!

Assuming budget is not an issue, I would go on Saturday and maybe do something non-Disney that you wouldn't normally do on that Sunday. Maybe you could do Cocoa Beach/KSC?

My friend bought a cricut machine recently and we got together this weekend and played around trying to figure it out. I now want one sooooo bad haha. She lives 2 hours away so just using hers whenever won't work dangit.

I made some iron on decals for our disney trip, some decals for out water bottles, a stencil to paint a sign for a gift for DH's cousin's wedding coming up next week, and a bunch of nerdy harry potter decals to put on my car because I'm a nerd haha. The heat transfer stencil is $$$ but so fun. I can't wait to get together with her again so I can make some decals for our magic bands too!

My SIL has a Cricut. I'm not sure if she even uses it. I really should find out if it can cut vinyl. I want to make things!!!

I'm pretty sure they all do! If it's older you may just need a different blade. Definitely check. It's addicting haha
