Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

Ah I might need help as we will be camping on ADR day. Yikes! I am afraid I will miss everything on my phone. What is everyone's plan for which parks on what day? I can't decide with 4 Christmas party days out of 6. Will every park have do not miss night time shows? Not sure my kids or I can handle all late nights either, they are early risers.

I've got:

Friday 11/25 - arrival 2:30 PM, check in and swim, hang at the resort. No DP this day, so will do dinner on the cheap somwhere (ha!)
Saturday 11/26 - Sleep in (ha!) probably mini golf late morning, then Disney Springs for Dinner at T Rex.
Sunday - I'm thinking HS for EMH to get us into early Jedi Training. Use our 3 FP then play the rest of the day by ear. Probably TS dinner in Epcot, Via Napoli or Teppan Edo.
Monday - Plan was for HS this day so now I've got to figure it out haha.
Tuesday - Magic Kingdom, hoping for lunch at BOG. Dinner at WCC.
Wed - Epcot day, dinner at either Via Napoli or Teppan Edo (depends on what we get for Sunday)
Thurs - Animal Kingdom, Dinner at Boma.
Friday - Magic Kingdom - probably dinner at Chef Mickeys for our 1 character meal. Or if we can snag an early Be Our Guest dinner (no Xmas party for us!) then we will do Minnie's holiday Dine on HS day. 1 character buffet is enough for us haha.
Saturday - up at the crack of dawn for our flight home.

Really need those park hours and EMH so I can solidify my plans before next monday :badpc:

  • Monorail -The monorail is under refurbishment and may have modified service or routes. You should check on the day of travel the best option to use. Alternative transportation options may be available.
    • Express Beam Overnight Closures- 11:30 PM Sundays - 9:30 AM Mondays, 11:30 PM Mondays - 9:30 AM Tuesdays
    • Monorail Shutdown- 11:30 AM - 6:00 PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Starting 4/12/2016 on Thursdays
    • Resort Beam Overnight Closures - 12:00 AM - 8:30 AM Mondays, 12:00 AM - 8:30 AM Tuesdays

This is the current info I can find. Doesn't say how long it will be happening, so I don't even know if it will be an issue in November. But, if I want to go back to the room midday or make it to a PPO ADR, it's going to be very difficult on this schedule. And one of the main reasons for staying at the Poly would be the ease of hopping on the monorail.

I currently have both CBR and Poly booked. We stayed at CBR last year, and enjoyed it and spending time at the pool looks fun. I guess I have time to decide, but some of my plans would depend on the option of hopping on the monorail. Kind of frustrating.

that is crazy!

Do you think this would be an instance where EMH would be advantageous? Just for Jedi Training purposes? The thought crossed my mind, but I'm torn on how much busier the park will be overall due to EMH. Or maybe everyone just figures that HS has nothing and will stay away, right? :rotfl2:

I've been reading that EMH or a PPO breakfast at Hollywood and Vine make it much easier, unless you get to the park an hour before opening and wait for rope drop. Not as easy with my crew since DH is a 3rd shifter and mornings are tough. I figure I'll take the 7yo who is an early riser to HS for the EMH and sign up, then DH can bring the 2.5 yo closer to park opening. HS is least recommended that day because of the AM EMH but I'll just make early FP and we can do those, jedi training and head out.

Looks like Josh has PM EMH listed for MK on Wed...It's sure to be a zoo since it's one of the only non party nights. Maybe I will get everyone to bed and go to MK by myself to see Wishes. Might be the only chance I get haha.

Actually, wandering down main Street alone until they kick me out sounds pretty damn heavenly....

That was another bonus of staying at the Poly. I was planning to have my mom watch the boys one night so DH and I could sneak out while they're sleeping and head back to MK or EP.

Wouldn't be as convenient from CBR, but you can still make it happen!

We want to catch Wishes as well, but will not be attending the party. What evening do you think will be better to hop over to MK, Monday the 28th or Wednesday the 30th? On one hand, I think it may be best to avoid EMH on Wednesday because we won't be staying around after Wishes to take advantage of those. Though, maybe it would be better as some people will be returning to the rides after wishes so the bus ride back to the hotel won't be as bad. Any thoughts?

Also, is the Castle lit up once it gets dark, or do they wait until after Wishes to do that. I'm excited to see of the decorations and don't want to miss that.

Thanks!

I think I remember them having 2 times for Elsa lighting up the castle, an early and a late. Or does that only happen on party nights?

The touring plans people recommend watching fireworks on a night where MK stays open afterward, but I imagine they're thinking about a regular closing rather than emh. Still though, I think my preference would be Wednesday night (in fact, that's our backup plan in case we decide we can't afford the MVMCP) but in that case we would probably not try to leave right after the fireworks because there will still be a rush of people going to the buses. We would probably aim to leave about an hour after the fireworks if we want the bus to be a bit less crowded. OTOH, Monday night might not be too bad if it's anything like Labor Day. Many people leave wdw on Labor Day, so MK is pretty crowded until later in the afternoon when suddenly everyone just leaves. Well, not everyone, but it clears out quite a bit. Then the rest of the evening and night is actually pretty pleasant as far as crowds go. So maybe Monday might be like that? I just don't know. TP currently has Monday as a crowd level 7 at mk and very low everywhere else. I imagine that's what they're thinking will happen (that people who are leaving on Monday will hit MK one last time before they go home). Sorry, I guess I'm not helping much!

so official park hours haven't been posted for December yet, but I see touring plans has them including EMH.

I'm going to look at my plans tonight when kids are in bed and see if the EMH and hours are going to impact me too much.

I think the touringplans calendar is WAY off! I don't trust it. Their emh's are based on LAST December, not what's been happening in Oct-Nov 2016.

Ahh good to know, I was afraid that was the case. Come on Disney!
Surely we'll get that calendar tomorrow. :confused3

Edit: I'll admit there's part of me that fears the person who releases the TA calendars "forgot" to release the December one and won't include it until mid-June with the next batch of calendar updates. :scared1:

If that happens we can call and annoy them all day until they give us the info

It's sure to work haha

I am making my estimates on EMHs based on the Oct Nov calendar. The month of Oct has almost identical EMHs as our week thus far. Based on this I am predicting 12/1 EP AM 1hr. 12/2 MK AM 1hr and I think they will go back and add 11/28 AK EMH. I also tried to pick going to parks that we're having EMH the next day bc they appear to never happen back to back. I have a totally revised schedule now. Make last minute adjustments and getting ready for Monday pixiedust:

Yeah, this is what I have:

11/28 --- (so far no emh, but I think they'll add AK AM emh)
11/29 --- Epcot pm
11/30 --- MK pm
12/1 --- Epcot am
12/2 --- MK am, DHS pm
12/3 --- AK am
12/4 --- DHS am
12/5 --- AK am
12/6 --- Epcot pm
12/7 --- MK pm

Hopefully we'll know for sure tomorrow.

You guys are the BEST!! Thank you! Love your analyses. I had AK on 12/1 and MK on 12/2 but your predictions make total sense. No reason not to switch them around.

5 park days was so easy to plan, but potentially adding a 6th is really throwing me for a loop. So silly, but I can't decide what to do with it!

Maybe we will hit AM EMH at HS like I planned, use our 3FP there early then head over to Epcot when the crowds get too much at HS for the afternoon and dinner. We really didn't get to explore the world showcase much last trip.

But then I was planning on doing HS full day on Monday, but that seems redundant. my 7yo LOVED hollywood studios though, so maybe 2 days of ToT, TSMM, and star tours will make it fun. And he's tall enough for RnR so that's a big bonus. BUT there really isn't a ton the toddler can do there. We spent about 2 hours in the Honey I shrunk the kids playground last trip, but that's closed :(
