Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

Oh wow I haven't been paying close enough attention - 100 days today, woot!!

I seriously have to figure out my packing strategy. I'm glad to read what you guys are doing, you all are so thorough and have such great ideas!

We are flying SW as well. For the three of us I'm planning on 2 checked bags with attire for all occasions..... hot and cold. We are coming from Rochester NY so I expect to have coats with us. Although in the past I've left the coats with Hubby in the car.

We'll have a change of cloths in out carry-ons with a bathing suit. The change of clothes is mainly so we can freshen up after travel without worrying about luggage delivery

We arrive at 3;20 pm on a direct flight!!
I am from Rochester too! What day are you arriving. We are on the direct flight on Nov. 26th.

@rere101399 We will be at EMH at HS on the 27th, so I vote you do that and come say hi in the JTA line :P

Also I hav NO clue on rain coats - does it rain a lot in FL that time of year? Ugh more crap to consider and pack haha

Ha! I'll let you know if we decide to do that. I haven't yet figured out if I want to start over with my park days and dining...boo!!

I think it can rain at a moment's notice in FL year round. I would definitely bring either a throwaway poncho or a raincoat. I might wait to decide until a few days before based on the forecast. If it's definitely projected to rain while we're they're I'd rather have a real rain coat.

Don't want to be a downer, but I would definitely bring a raincoat. It rained several times for a good amount of time when we were there 2 years ago so it is possible for that time of the year. Since its not the hot summer heat, it got chillier when it rained and a raincoat would definitely be handy!

Well I will definitely pack the kids' good raincoats then - I have no problems with buying ponchos but they will be warmer and drier in a raincoat if it gets chilly! That, and everyone in a Disney poncho looks the same and that would make me nervous with kids! Bonus, they are lined so we will just make those their light jackets :)

Definitely a good idea for the kids! I just looked back through our pictures to see how often we had on our hoodies and it was only a few nights and the days that it rained so it seems my memory is correct that it was still warm enough most nights to be in shorts and a tshirt :)

now that we've talked about jackets - let's talk shoes

My DS 7 wore his crocs last trip but those are now broken and he's "too cool" for crocs now :( he hates regular sandals, so it's tennis shoes and flip flops for him. DS2 has both tennis shoes and comfy sandals plus several pairs of crocs that he loves.

What shoes do you like to wear in the parks? Do you bring other shoes and alternate?

good to hear! I'll hope for that this trip, minus any rain. Ha!

Out last trip it POURED for hours at Epcot. We were stuck in the seas pavilion luckily so the kids had a blast anyway. But even through we put the rain cover on the stroller it was absolutely soaked through, so that was a bummer. We had ponchos too, but it was so hot and humid we would have melted wearing them!

I only wear sneakers. I admire the people that can wear flip flops all day but my feet kill even with comfy sneaks! I always pack 2 pairs in case one pair gets wet. Crocs would definitely work for your one son who will wear them :)

Epcot is the WORST for rain...so far to run between covers! We got soaked during our September trip last year trying to get back to the bus...everything is so spread out there! But if I had to be stuck anywhere in Epcot it would definitely be at the seas pavilion...so much fun :)

I will bring 2 pairs of sneakers, one pair of flip-flops, and a pair of nicer flats. I can't wear flip-flops all day, even some of the better gel types. I will probably alternate sneakers and wear the nicer shows for the evenings.

My son will only wear sneakers. I'll pack his flip-flops for the resort pool day.

My daughter is a shoe fiend and will most likely bring a whole suitcase full of shoes. She's planning on themed outfits and I'm sure shoes to match.

My kids are 17 and 14 and I can no longer pick their shoes or outfits. They only accept suggestions and then politely accept or reject.

I will probably pack two pair of sneakers for the kids and their Keens which they seem to be able to walk in all day/long distances quite comfortably. Neither one of them walks well in crocs or flip flops, and luckily DS5 isn't yet too cool for his Keens.

For DH and I probably two pair of sneaks and flip flops for the resort. Maybe a pair of comfy flats for me in case I get tired of wearing the sneakers.

What about rain boots? My kids probably wouldn't do well in their rain boots all day so I guess I probably will leave them home, although if there is a torrential downpour I hate the thought of their feet getting cold and wet. Hmm I guess I can put them in the stroller for most of the time it is raining to keep their feet dry, so maybe I'll just bring my rain boots.

I have Vionic flip flops. They're orthotics, and they're the best shoes I own. I wore them every day last year in the parks and was so comfy. The boys wear either crocs or tennis shoes, depending on which gives them the better height boost :) or if there's rain in the forecast. If there's a chance of rain, the crocs dry much easier!

So how did everyone pick which park to go to which day? So far I'm considering park hours, crowd calendars/park recommendations, along with the very limited special event info we have at this time like MVMCP nights. I'm curious how everyone else plans for a good flow.

What I'm really second guessing is how many early mornings & late nights I'm planning. I'm sure that's a common first-timers mistake! I'm just having trouble laying out my days and choosing between early mornings, late nights, or both with a break in the middle. We don't have a whole non-park day in the schedule, but one thing I want to do is visit the other resorts and as part of that we are going to take an afternoon/evening to do some version of a Monorail Bar Crawl.

Monorail Bar Crawl? I've never even thought to be one of those! I visited all the Monorail resorts last time to see the Christmas decor so maybe this time I'll throw some bars into the mix too :). For planning, I just assumed that if AK evenings and SW fireworks were going on, they would still be every night. I did plan for 2 evenings at DHS just to be sure though. My spreadsheet for scheduling and planning fastpasses has a big "considerations/what ifs" section in case my assumptions are wrong...my husband is going to love going over the planning with my neurocitism this weekend :).

There was a post about the Monorail bar crawl I think in the Solo and Adult Trip forum. From there, there's a link to a blog page or something with variations you can do for shorter or longer "bar crawls" and recommended bars at each resort. Check it out!

That makes sense about the "what if" scenarios for the unknowns right now. I do hear a lot of talk about that, specifically with those two topics you mentioned. Good luck with your husband! When I mention Disney planning to mine his eyes glaze over immediately. He is not a planner.
