Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

UMMM SIGN ME UP FOR NPH :woohoo:

Ok but seriously my kids wouldn't sit through the CP. but I love him and want to seeeeeeee!
I am thinking there is a decent chance I send DH and DD back to the resort while I stay at CP... and that is OK by me!! DD might sit through it, assuming she is not just exhausted (we will probably start at rope drop this day).

So how difficult is it to see the CP if you don't have seating via the dining package? Just not sure I want to spend 2 credits or pay for a meal out of pocket . . .
I don't have the dining plan but the consensus is that it is better to pay OOP for CP dining. I will say that last year there were people standing in the standby line at 1p for the show. From my understanding they open the standby seating up 15m prior to show start. Part of the reason I chose Trattoria al Frono for breakfast $27 adult and $14 child. And it is really good breakfast food!!

Has anyone done cp with a two year old? I'm thinking he isn't going to sit through it and I don't want to set him up for a melt down on our last night.
We ended up cancelling our reservation last year when DD was 2 (almost 3). I didn't cancel because I was worried about her potentially melting down. We could only get the 5p show. DD refused to nap in the stroller and we had to go back to hotel every day for naps which were later than her usually naps at home. There was no way we could make it there for 430 seating. I think most kids even at 2 will be fine for an hour. You know your kid best. But don't let others influence not going because you're afraid of a meltdown. I was questioning myself last year on the exact same subject and someone told me well you are at WDW right?!? People are used to there being children around. DD say through many shows and ride waits last year without hardly any problems. Just remember to enjoy yourself!!!

Well, I booked GG for 11/30 today but I had to take a 9:20 AM reservation. That's at least an hour earlier than I wanted since we're hoping to do MVMCP the night before. :faint:

I've booked Captain's Grille breakfast on 12/5 (Monday) for our CP package meal. I also booked it on 11/27 in case we make it down to wdw earlier. Plans are coming together. We're going to try to hit morning emh at MK, AK, and possibly DHS during this trip. We made it to a couple rope drops on our last trip so I think it's doable for us. We shall see!

I have a question... how hard do you try to avoid hitting the same park on consecutive days? Right now, with aiming for emh AND trying to hit the "most recommended" park each day for the rest of the day, we'll be at AK 3 partial days in a row. I'm just not sure if we'll like that. Here's what it would look like:

Friday MK emh 'til around 11, then head to AK for the rest of the day.
Saturday AK emh 'til around 10 or 10:15, then Boma for late breakfast at 10:55, followed by any number of options for the rest of the day (Epcot, DHS, DS, or pool time at AoA)
Sunday DHS emh 'til 10 or 11, then AK for the rest of the day.

Originally, we were going to go to MK on Sunday. However, Sunday is the only day DHS has emh in the morning so if we want to hit that, it wouldn't make sense to then hop to a park that closes early (or maybe that would still make sense?). Would you go to MK on a party day if you couldn't be there until mid-day?

I love AK, but that would probably be a bit much. But if you are feeling done with AK by Sunday, then you just hop somewhere else or stay longer at HS! I wouldn't probably do MK late on a party day, but then again, it sounds like you have lots of days to work with, so it might be fine.

We are taking the opposite approach. I'm trying to avoid the EMH parks. We are hitting MK on the party days in hopes that it will be less crowded. However, I had AK planned for Monday morning then hopping to EP for the afternoon/evening. I believe they added EMH to AK that day, so that would be the only EMH we would attend.

The CP thing is putting a wrench in my plans. We have Garden Grill booked for dinner Monday without the CP package, which I don't want to lose, and judging by the lack of GG reservations won't be able to rebook under the package anyway. I really don't want to use 2 credits for a CP package, but with NPH as narrator, I doubt we will get to see it without a package. So right now I'm sitting on a Biergarten lunch, which would be the cheapest OOP option that's not breakfast on the BW, which isn't convenient either. I also have an Akershus breakfast, but that would force me to move our AK morning......I also don't want to switch park days because I don't want to cancel any of our other reservations, which include CP, BOG, and Ohana......ugh, what to do.....

The struggle is real!

We will - assuming we keep both - have a late breakfast at Garden Grill (regular, not CP) and then early dinner at Biergarten (CP package). We will be stuffed... but happy as we watch NPH! :)

For us (couple in their 40s), AK is a one and done park. I could see splitting into two days if you want to hit other high points at other parks, but three would be a huge stretch for us.

I think both Saturday and Sunday will end up being flexible days. We'll aim for the emh just to get some touring time with lower crowds and then we'll spend the afternoons hitting whatever park we feel like going to or swimming or heading to Disney Springs. I figure all the parks will be somewhat busier on the weekend so it's a good time to get our pool time in or spend some time earlier in the day checking out the new stuff at Disney Springs. We might even just end up resort hopping for awhile if the weather isn't cooperating with pool plans. So Saturday will be primarily Epcot or DHS for the afternoon if we want a park and Sunday will be Epcot or AK if we want park time. Sounds kind of nice to just do whatever we feel like doing! :)

I was going to try to see NPH standby if it worked out the day of, but are NPH's days super popular? I didn't think of that, so that's good to know.

He's pretty much the only one I ever hear mentioned as a true "must see". I know others are popular, but he seems to be the most popular of all the popular ones. I'm hoping that means everyone will be in line to see him and we can go about touring and riding rides with minimal waits and crowds. :)

I have heard that very few people in the standby/waiting lines get in on NPH days... and that even with dining package tickets, you will want to get in line significantly ahead of time.

But this will be my first time. :)

Wahhhhh I'll be wAtching on YouTube I'm sure ::cue violins::

Thanks for all the info on the CP guys - sounds like it probably won't work out for us either. I'll hope for what Iowamom said - people waiting to see NPH meaning hopefully shorter lines in the rest of the park! :D
