Weeeeee, I just won a honeymoon!!!!

Well, part of one anyways. My fiancee had entered us to win a 2 nights 3 day trip...AND WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!! The trip, through Allegro Resorts, is all inclusive and I can choose to stay at any of there resorts (Aruba, 2 in Mexico, 2 in the Dominican Republic and one in Costa Rica). So now, we will only have to pay for part of the trip, we are planning on staying at least 6 nights. The only catch is that we have to attend some cooking show (I'm assuming it's so they, who ever is throwing this, can try and get us to buy some things). This I have no problems with, but I am trying to find out some info:

1)Has anyone ever gone to one of these things to get a free trip? If so, do they put on the pressure to get you to buy or are they non-pushy? I really don't want to have to go and feel pressured into buying something.

2)When I look up allegro resorts on the web here's the link I'm put to occidental Hotels. I've heard of Occidental while traveling the web, but I want to know has anyone ever stayed in one of their resorts? Do they have good service? Do they come reccomended?

If anyone can help out on these questions I'd appreciate it...if not, could you give me a little *bump*? Thanks.

Not to diminsh your spirits, especially since I don't know about your case in particular, but most times these are just an attempt to get you to come to the show.

DH and I sat through the HealthCraft cooking show for 2 hours to get the free vacation certificate. In the end it wasn't so "free". You had to pay some voucher fee or something like that. Then you had to purchase the full 6 or 7 night package to get the 2 "free" nights. The package was overpriced.

I think once you get there you will realize that many other couples "won" the free trip too.

But I say if you have the time go to the show. Maybe the trip really is free - and yes they tend to pressure you into buying the stuff. They don't quite hold you hostage but you do feel a little weird when you walk out buying nothing.

I don't want to hurt your feelings, but no, these are scams and are not real trips. If you attended a bridal show in the recent past, more than likely they got your info there, or through another wedding vendor company. They send these offers or "wins" to EVERYONE. I got several, even from that company, when I was a bride, and they are talked about often on The Knot since so many brides "win" them. Some waste their time and attend the little show, but most check them out first and realize its a scam.

Was this trough Royal Presige? This is really a scam. They put on a high pressure sales tactic for you to buy a 8 piece cookware set for $1500. They will tell you that other cookware causes cancer ect...I would be really careful. I would alsao advise you not to go to the presentation if you have a hard time saying no. Good luck to you!

Man, thanks for all the responces everyone...this is great. I'd have to admit that my intial reaction was, "great, I never win anything." I did tell her though to have her mom look at the legal stuff surrounding it though (my future MIL is an attorney)...just in case. I'm sure glad I asked my dis friends. Man, now I kind of feel stupid telling some people here at work that I won a honeymoon. I might still go to see what this is all about. I don't plan on siging anything or giving out any personal information.
