Weddings??

Does anyone know if the Captain will perform a wedding aboard ship during the cruise? Or has anyone gotten married on one of the islands and wouldn't mind sharing about it?

The answer to your question is 'Yes', but the Captain does the ceremony on their Private Island, Castaway Cay.

DCL has booking options for vow renewals and weddings at the Rates and Dates area on their website.

After reading the package details, it says an 'Officiant' to perform the ceremony.

It said it costs $2938 per couple.

I haven't done this, just read about the package earlier.

Congratulations! Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings does offer a wedding package through the cruiseline but it isn't performed by the captain or aboard the ship. The captain can only perform vow renewals aboard ship as the weddings must take place on land (Castaway Cay) and are performed by a Bahamian officiant which comes in by boat on the morning of your ceremony. There is only one wedding (or renewal) booked per cruise as the ceremony times are set. The weddings take place at 10am on Castaway Cay while the renewals take place at 4:30pm on Thursday aboard ship. Two years ago while at Castaway Cay there was a wedding taking place and it looked so romantic and special. There was a little golf cart type vehicle (all elaborately decorated) waiting right outside the ship to take the wedding party across the island to the spot where the ceremony takes place. From the beach we could see the wedding - the scene is gorgeous as the ship and ocean are the backdrop - very pretty and something you may want to look into.

I did some extensive research as our 20th anniversary is this year and we're renewing our vows. I looked into WDW versus Castaway Cay and aboard ship. We opted for aboard ship as our two kids would kill us if they had to spend the better part of their day at Castaway Cay all dressed up. I'll be posting after our cruise with the details of the renewal (for anyone interested).

Thanks for the info. I did see the stuff about Castaway Cay, but that's on Friday...I don't want to wait the whole week to get married! LOL I guess we are thinking about getting off at one of the islands and getting married since you can't do it on ship.
