I do a combination of the above. My set is platinum, but the wedding band has channel set diamonds that were sauldered (sp?) in with nickel and the protective coating has since worn off underneath. Naturally, I am allergic to nickel, so I can't wear my wedding band for long periods without breaking out in a bloody rash. My dermatologist told me the only solution, really, was to get a new band, but he did give me some Elidel to use when I get really bad. My internist's nurse told me to paint the inside with clear nail polish -- haven't tried that one yet.

So right now, I wear my engagement ring and wedding band when I am going out, going to church, etc. However, I take it off to sleep, when I am hanging out at home, and when I work. I teach 3 days per week at a preschool and all that handwashing completely irritates the area and makes the rash 10x worse (not to mention the marquis-cut solitaire could double as a weapon and I am afraid I will scratch the heck out of some poor child with it). So I never wear it to work.

I wear my engagement and wedding rings all the time. Actually, I take them off when making meatballs, but that's it.

I wear the engagement ring DH proposed to me with and the plain gold band he gave me at our wedding. I take mine off when I'm showering and drying my hair (the band gets hot and hurts my hand). I also will take it off if I'm going to do something messy like painting or working with raw meat. The rest of the time, they never leave my finger.

I don't wear my engagement ring because it doesn't fit, but that's about to change real soon. I always wear my wedding band unless I plan on getting involved with a real dirty job. That's isn't too often. ;) I typically sleep with my wedding band, too.

They've only come off for surgeries and when I color my hair.

We have braided, tri color gold bands. In the nearly 10 years we've worn them, the braiding on DH's has smoothed down all the way around. Mine only have two 'braids' with the slightest smoothing. My engagement ring doesn't catch on very much, either.

I always wear my wedding band and have only taken it off for surgery, advised to as the surgery was on my left arm and they were worried about swelling. I also got it slightly enlarged after that as it was a struggle to get off! Engagement ring is worn when going out never at home as worried the diamond will catch on something.

I wear my wedding band all of the time except for when I shower. I wear my engagement ring most of the time, but not always.

I wear my rings pretty much all the time, except when I am home and doing work that would damage them. I love my rings very much and will always wear them. Married 3 years.

ETA: I could never sleep in them though. My hands swell and I couldn't get them off if I tried.

I'm death to jewelry.
I lost 2 anniversary rings but still have my $100.00 gold wedding band.

I have always worn my engagement ring and wedding rings all the time (19 years). The only exceptions were when I had surgery and they made me take them off, and when I was pregnant. I wore my wedding ring on a chain around my neck. My fingers swelled so bad the Dr. said take the ring off or you'll end up cutting it off :scared1: . Recently I've had some swelling/weight ((ahem)) issues and am only wearing the band. My wedding ring is screaming for me to go on a diet :scared: . That's another story entirely...

I chose combination of above. It really depends on the day.

I have started to not wear wedding back, but am wearing anniversary band and engagement ring. Anniversary band sat around for 5 years not being touched.

I take them off at night. I take them off while cooking (especially meatloaf). Lately my hands have been swollen in the AM, so I go food shopping without them (maybe someone will ask me on a date in the produce section, while I am squeezing a tomato).

I am stuck with my husband, wedding band or no wedding band.

Along the same lines. I was having a very inappropriate discussion during a supervisors meeting this week. Discussion was I would not go after another supervisor (who was in room) because I was married. To add to the humor of the conversation, I took off my bands and tossed them on the table and said wanna bet! Beverages were flying out of nostrils all over that room.

I lost my original wedding ring during my pregnancy with DD, and I'm on my second ring now. For my 10th anniversary, DH got me an engagement ring (I wanted an anniversary ring, and he misunderstood, but it was a great surprise!). Anyway, I don't wear them when I'm at home because my fingers swell. I keep them on my watch band so they're less likely to get lost.

When we married back in the Dark Ages, a very wide wedding band was the style....no longer wear it or my solitaire diamond-because the unusual prong setting doesn't hold the diamond.
Occasionally wear my Anniversary ring with 7 diamonds for dressy occasions

When DH and I got married in the courthouse, we didn't have wedding rings. A couple of years passed and we did get rings.

However I never really could wear it because it was a "killer marquis". It would slash my dd like a knife. I also have excema which flares up from time to time.

I did wear it for special days.

Now it is 17yrs coming up and DH's ring doesn't fit him so he doesn't wear his and I don't wear mine either.

I want to get anniversary rings for our 20th.:thumbsup2

I didn't want an engagement ring but I never take my wedding band off. My fingers hardly ever swell but they did one night about a year ago and I took the ring off in the middle of the night and put it on my nightstand. When dh woke me up in the morning, the first thing he asked me was "Why is your wedding ring not on your finger?' :rotfl: DH wears his all the time, too.

I see a recurring theme here. Maybe I should start a new poll: "Do you take your wedding band off when making meatloaf?" I would answer YES!

I have 3 different wedding bands that I wear at various times.

My plain one (matches my DH's), I wear around the house or working outside.

My wedding set (engagement ring + wedding band that goes with it), only gets worn a couple of times a year for special occasions.

My anniversary band that my DH bought me for our 5th anniversary is what's worn 90% of the time - it's very pretty!!!!

All 3 rings always get removed at night ;)

I never really liked my wedding band. Dh picked them out. He wanted something with a little pattern and I really just wanted a plain gold band. We got these brushed bands and I really didn't like them. Anyway, I wore it for years. Then had my diamond reset a couple of times and a wrap added to it. About 4 years ago he bought me a past present future ring and that is all I wear now :)

After almost 25 years I find my wedding band a smidge too tight, especially in humid weather. I also work in healthcare so I am constantly washing my hands and having to take it off to scrub properly. Last summer during a heatwave I took my ring off and put it on the necklace I always wear and it's been there ever since. So while I answered 'I never wear any ring', technically I just never wear it on my finger :)

Oh, the engagement ring I haven't worn in many years as the setting always catches on stuff and rips gloves.
