DF and I each have three kids from previous weddings. We are having all of them stand in the wedding. We ran into a lady this weekend who told us that she and her husband both had children from other marriages and they wrote vows to each others children to express to them how important they were in the marriage. Anyone ever seen or heard of this before? I think it is a fantastic idea, but have no idea where to start with writing the vows. Anyone have any ideas where to look?

Who is dong your wedding? When I spoke to Rev. Jack Day (can't wait to meet him!) we spoke about my DD4. She won't be at the wedding but he told me that he does a nice part with the children present.

He also suggested that we make a big deal with her/about her at the reception we have at home...so she feels included.

So basically...check with your officiant!

Yes, I agree...check with your officiant! Most of them are very willing to customize your ceremony for you!

When I contacted Rev. Kevin Knox, he sent me a wonderful package for planning your vows...there was LOTS of stuff about including the children in the ceremony!

We are probably going to use Jack Day, I sent off for his "Jack Pack" today. I guess I will wait to see what is in it.

My Dh did that for my DD on our wedding- he bought her her a locket of sorts (heart) and said that he would be the best father he could to her and that he would love her and care for her and things like that- very sweet (almost like vows) I am sure that your minister has something to work with (that's what ours did)
