Wedding themed clothing (ex. shirts that say, "Bride") - yeah or nay?

How do you feel about wedding related clothing?

  • I'm all for wedding wear! Share the joy!

  • Meh, don't care one way or the other.

  • Nope, don't care for it. Just not my thing.

Thought it was time for a pointless question. :)

On our recent trip to LA I saw more wedding themed clothing then I have ever seen before. (And not just in Disneyland.) Hats proclaimed "Bride" and "Groom." T-shirts said things like, "Mrs. So-and-So, established 2009" or "Soon to be Mrs. So-and-So." There were bags and sweaters, pins and hats...

I know, personally, I didn't get off on that stuff at all when I was getting married. I felt no need to advertise at all, even while honeymooning in Disney World. (There was another couple at our hotel that we saw every morning in the wedding ears, matching shirts and "just married" pins. DH hugged me every time we saw them for not asking him to do that.) I actually have nothing against these things, it's just not my taste.

So are you for or against wedding wear??

Frankly, I am sick to death of the whole "I am a bride and therefore the center of the universe" mentality. To me, it's all tied together.

I had a hoodie embroidered with Mrs. My-New-Last-Name. I really loved it (and my goods were concealed, for those of you with a concern).

I m NOT a fan of the "Bride" and "Groom" attire. Even worse are the "Future MRS. Smith" shirts, etc.

For our wedding, DH and I DID receive "Mr. Right" and "Mrs. Always Right" luggage tags to use on our honeymoon, and I LOVE them! I don't think I will ever take them off of our luggage, but they are subtle enough.

I've been married for 23 years now, and I absolutely love it! All of it. I think its just adorable and what the heck, you only get married once, so why not tell everyone! I'm reading the best and cutest trip report right now, and she is wearing the ears everywhere and I think its great.:thumbsup2!

I remember one of the best Christmas cards I ever saw was over my girlfriends house and her sister had sent it to her...they had gone on a Hawaii honeymoon and her tshirt read "Just Mauied":rotfl:. I loved it.

I totally agree- its just another way of making sure the attention doesn't fall away from them even after the wedding day!

Sorry but I would have busted out laughing every morning I saw that- SO not my style and no way would any guy I would marry agree to wear anything like that- not the kind of guy I would ever marry!

Some are done classy and subtle. Others not so much. I like the classy stuff, just not the bedazzled crap.

I voted wear it, and share the joy.

It always brings a smile to see newlyweds wearing stuff like that, and if it was popular back when DH and I got married I would definitely have wanted to participate in sharing the joy.

But I realize it's not for everyone too.

Kinda like celebrating a birthday in a restaurant. DH knows I don't want all the hoopla, so he never mentions it to our server. But some people really enjoy that sort of thing.

we wore the ears, because it was just something we always wanted to do. Hubby lasted all of a day with his top hat because it was blazing hot but bless him for humoring me.

I love to see people who are just married they're always fun to chat with and they are the ones we look for on our way out of parks to give away any fastpasses we may have [since it's only the two of us we wouldn't give two fastpasses to a family of four, that could cause a ruckus :lmao:]

It's cute. I always congratulate couples in the park if I see them with the bride/groom ears.

Looking at the banner ad for custom t-shirts at the bottom of this thread, reminded me that one year while in WDW to see my sister compete/dance in the MK, I made a bunch of "Team Holly" shirts for our family and friends to wear to the event. It was a big hit and people kept asking us who Holly was.

I plan on wearing the bride ears for only one day as I just bought the most pimpin nintendo hat in the entire world ;). I do plan on writing just married on my pink converse shoes and wearing them around the parks. (Esp since they are the shoes I'm using for the wedding.) Plus I'm horrible with dates and I know it will help me recall our future anniversary. All I'll have to do is look down at my shoes.

Some of the stuff is okay. My dh's cousin's bride wore a shirt on rehearsal day - it said "Bride - my day, my way". Yikes. It got a mention in the toast at the reception - something about it being "Our Day"

I like the "Bride" and "Groom" stuff, except for the selfish ones. I think it's nice to share the excitement of a new life together. My daughter will be getting some of the attire when she gets engaged/married I'm sure!

i LOVE the bride/groom ears and 'just married' buttons in disney world. i always make a point to say congratulations to them.

i think most of the stuff (not the "my day my way" crap) is really cute.
