Wedding registry for Escape Wedding

Hi everyone,

My fiancé and I will be having an escape wedding in december of this year and I'm not sure whether we should do a wedding registry or not. We will have 15 guests total. Would it be courteous to the guests to have a registry they can pick a gift from or would it just be dumb if there are only 15 guests (most of them couples). If anything, I was thinking of doing a honeymoon registry. What are your thoughts/experiences? Thanks all for your input in advance!

We had the same number of guests and didn't register at all. It seemed presumptuous to ask for any kind of gift since all of our guests had to travel. It turns out, I was right. Nobody brought so much as a card, not even our parents. Some of our guests did send gifts to our home after the wedding, though.

Gift registries are actually a courtesy to guests because it relieves them of the burden of trying to figure out what to get you if they want to get you something. As long as you don't put the registry info in the invitation, you are not being presumptuous. There may also be people who aren't even invited who still want to get you things, like co-workers or friends from church. Make one, and let people ask you or your mom or close friends/relatives for the info if they want it.

also, side note,some places will send you lots of coupons once you have a registry and after the wedding date to entice you to "complete" your registry. we made one (at target and i put our washer dryer on it from lower or something - just in case!! - i think), mostly because i wanted wedding-y things to do (did it all online) and we didn't put it on the invites and i actually don't think anyone got us anything off of it, but you do get some not bad coupons afterward...
