We are having a Wishes Wedding next month, and in a debate about what to give the planner and how much to spend. Mom wants to get him a gift card to a restaraunt he "casually" mentioned he liked, and a bottle of wine. Is this appropriate, or in the range of what most people do? I'm so lost on this one? Any advice is appreciated advice!!

i got my planner a gift card to a store she said she likes.

Oh man I wish I knew what to get my planner!! She hasn't told me anything she likes. I would love to get something for her though when the time comes.

DF and I are getting our wedding planner a bottle of wine and some handmade candy and cookies from a bakery in our area.

That's a great idea, getting them something that's local to you! Something they can't get on thier own!

Yea, we thought about that. If you don't mind.. what is the appropriate amount. My mom was saying she wanted about 10 percent, so I was just wondering what most people do?

MY PLANNER WAS KAREN HEYN SHE WAS AWESOME!! HER ASST WAS BRANDY L.
I actually called her asst. to find out what she liked and where she shopped . I ended up getting her a nice bottle off wine with a big box of assorted chocolates fr a local upscale chocolate shop. I also got her asst. a smaller box of chocolates both with a card!!!

When we got married tipping was not allowed so that wasn't an option - sorry!

I love the idea of getting something local to give your planner!! :)

10% of the cost of the wedding? That's, like... [counts on fingers] a $2,000 tip on a $20,000 wedding!

Apparently I'm in the wrong line of work...:rotfl:

haha..thats what I said..the woman is nuts!!

Maybe she's just bad at math and meant something else, Who know's. I told her she was crazy..and now I have proof! I didn't want to spend more than $50 for a gift card and she looked at me like I was crazy!

And around and round we go!:rotfl:

You can also tip your planner if it's easier!

Technically, Disney cast members are not allowed to receive cash tips (unless they are in tipping jobs such as servers). They can receive gifts but not money. If they do accept the tip, well, that's against company policy.

Hiya! This has recently been changed, according to my WC. Now everyone involved in the wedding can accept tips, except for the Wedding Consultants (the sales person for Wishes Weddings who does the contract, books sites, etc.) - including Wishes Wedding Event Planners and both kinds of Escape Wedding Coordinators.

And if you do try to tip someone who is not allowed to accept tips, they will either refuse it or be made to share it with everyone on the team, so nobody gets in trouble. :)

Having studied the etiquette of wedding tipping, I still stand by the "no automatic tips for professionals/business owners, only for service people" rule of thumb. :thumbsup2
