I start a new job as a teacher the week after next and, as such, am limited to school holidays from now on!

To be able to have a three week trip this means we will be there at the end of August, when humidity is high (I've been before at this time of year, as have the majority of our guests so that won't be a shock to them!).

I'm just wondering, anyone else who got married/is getting married at this time of year, what did the men in your party wear?

My DF has quite a Mediterranean complexion and would look wonderful in a pale coloured linen suit (which would also suit the relaxed style we want our wedding to have) but I don't think this would suit the other men in the party (his dad, my dad and my two brothers).

Does anyone have suggestions that would make them feel comfortable but also not make them feel they look ridiculous!

Hi Jen, we are getting married at the end of june 07 and my df will either be wearing an ivory / white linen suit from next. I thought it would be alot cooler and lighter than a normal suit.
Hope this helps

Thanks, that is exactly what I'm thinking of for me DF - the problem is that apart frm my dad, all the other men are rather more "heavy set" and I don't imagine linen to be a good look on slightly larger men ;) Plus the fact I can't see either of my brothers going within a mile of a linen suit!!

Handy to know they do them in Next - wasn't aware of that!

what about medium coloured trousers (biscuit coloured / beige?) and a white or ivory shirt and tie with a waistcoat (vest!) to match or contrast with the trousers?

I am getting married at the end of June 07 as well, at an outside location. DF is planning on wearing a light tan suit, either linen or another light material. He was also considering a seersucker suit, but we wanted the wedding to be a little fancier. I have also seen pictures of men with suit jackets but wearing the matching shorts instead of pants. It did look really nice and I am sure the guys were much cooler. HTH :)

We're getting married at SBP in May of next year, and since it's an outdoor location, we decided that it would be uncomfortable to have anyone wear a tux. My fiance is wearing a beige linen suit with an ivory linen shirt. Our attendants are wearing ivory linen shirts without anything over them, and beige pants. We haven't decided if we're getting linen pants for them too, or if we'll just let them go with nice kahkis. Right now we're leaning toward the kahkis.

We're having more of a casual wedding, and we wanted everyone's attire to reflect that. The most formal thing at the wedding will be my gown, and even that is pretty casual (simple lace A-line, no train, no veil). Ultimately, I'd rather have everyone comfortable in the Florida heat, rather than stick to traditional styles.

We got married in mid-May this year. My hubbie wore a tux. We were lucky though, our wedding was in the morning and it was really nice so that we were definately not too hot. It was the perfect time. Later in the day it got pretty hot.

Thanks for all the ideas, everyone, it has given me plenty to think about :D

I do like Starflowers idea with the Khakis....same as you, the most formal thing about our wedding will be my dress, and it is likely to be a simple A-line as well! My two SILs and my niece will be my bridesmaids and I've said they can wear whatever dresses, as long as the colours compliment each other (I'm expecting pinks/purples, which is fine by me). I'm really laid back about it too, hence why we're doing just a small wedding in Florida and a party when we get back to the UK :)
