Getting married in November and we're undecided on which hotel to stay at. The wedding is at the Swan/Dolphin so we want to be close to that, but we don't want to be around a bunch of kids. Is this possible? Which hotel is most romantic and has the most comfortable beds?

You might want to check on the 'wedding' forum. I'm sure there is alot of discussion around romantic resorts. We loved AKL personally.

Well, remember, all the hotels are attached to themeparks where grownups dress like mice and stuff. So, avoiding kids altogether is, well, difficult.

I've read that Swan and Dolphin are actually the two most adultish on-site hotels, followed by the Grand Floridain. Swan actually is a Westin, and Westin prides itself on their "heavenly" brand beds, so maybe that's the best choice.

Good advice everyone. We don't want to avoid kids, I just don't want kids surrounding us when we're in the hot tub.

Early or late November?? Closer to the holidays-- more families/buiser pool/spa.

We did the WL club level, and was very quite and peaceful, but the pool area was a little busy.

CONGRATS.

Thank you for the congrats . Its is late november through early december. Its actually the Monday after Thanksgiving so its in the slow season. Why did you recommend Wilderness Lodge? What did you like most about it? Pricing?

You will not avoid kids in the hot tubs at Disney Hotels. They are everywhere. Also, the first week in December has become quite busy in recent years. Good luck with your planning. Check the FAQ's on the Resorts board. Great information there.

I Got married at the Swan and had Just Marry make my reservations for the night before(me/ MOH) and for our wedding nite (DH & me of course) most of our relatives were offsite at a house we rented for the week. We got a complimentary upgrade to a lovely junior suite w/ a wonderful balcony. The kind heavenly bed was amazing. I highly recommend this. I took my MOH to Palio's for dinner and we had the most wonderful meal- it was a great wedding and I love the swan!

A note on the Wilderness Lodge hot tubs. Go to the one over by the Villas. It is usually quieter and not populated by as many kids, usually none in the evenings off season. That is where we would hang out.

The slow season is based on park attendance not resort occupany. This year the week after Thanksgiving is sold out at Disney and a huge group of kids will be there then for the Pop Warner event.

Just don't want you to think you are going to be spending your honeymoon at a couples only resort, it won't happen at Disney resort.

Oh believe me, this isn't our honeymoon, this will be our wedding week. We're going away for our honeymoon to an adults only resort. We just want something romantic for our wedding night and week, but not sure where to find it.

Oh good, I would recommend then either the Swan or Dolphin, the Grand Floridian honeymoon suites, Yacht Club concierge, or a Garden Suite at the BW Inn.

Although it is not right near the Swan/Dolphin I really liked AKL. At night the dim lights made it more romantic I thought. You can always go for a walk and look at the animals at night also. For a nice dinner your can eat at Jiko's or Boma's. I stayed there in Aug and my room was very quiet and hardly heard noise from the hallway.

Did justmarry gave you a better rate when you reserved through them? and which of the Swan location was your ceremony at?

We haven't received a call back about our room rate yet, and I'm still undecided about where we want our ceremony. What about you? How many guests are you having?

We stayed in a Savanna room down Kudu Trail room #2304. Some may say it was a "long walk" from the bus stop or to Mara but I didn't think so. I grew up staying at Moderates and you are already walking 3-4 miles a day what is a few extra feet. Although we did see a good amount of animals I wish we had faced the Arusha savanna. The other thing that is really nice is that if you are going into the parks your don't share your bus with another hotel.

I loved Boma's and really like the food. I have heard Jiko's is really good also, a little bit more $$ but the ambiance looked great. I loved the pool area also. We went swimming almost every night and when we were there it was never too crowded not "too kiddie." Granted as many people have stated there are kids no matter where you are in Disney. On that note I am not too sure about the hot tubs because I do not go in them.

Overall I think no matter where you stay you will have a great time and it will be romantic because you just go married. I just wish I could convince my DF to get married there! :earboy2:

LOL. I didn't convice my DF to get married there, he convinced me. He saw it on Travel channel and brought up the idea of doing it. And I must say that it took him a lot of convincing. I've never been to Disney before and he has so he had the upper hand. Thank you for your advice about the lodge. I'm going to look into the rates for that.
