I have been lurking here getting ideas for my husband and I's WDW vow renewal for our 25th anniversary it is a few years off so I have just enjoyed reading some of the ideas. Now I am planning a wedding celebration for my daughter in December and I need some help.

My daughter and her husband are in the Army stationed in Korea. They were married a year ago on base just the two of them and the Chaplain. She just called yesterday and said that they will be home for Christmas and they want to go ahead and have a ceremony and reception while they are here. I am very excited but I have a question. Since this is actually a vow renewal and most people know they are already married, should we say vow renewal on the invite? And if we do say vow renewal but we have a very traditional ceremony with giving the bride away and flower girls and everything will that be strange? Any suggestions? Any ideas on the working would be helpful!

I don't think I would use the term "Vow Renewal" or "Wedding" either. Since, they are in the army and have been away...I'm sure everyone knows this and understands it. Maybe say some thing along the lines of...They want you to finally be able to join them as they celebrate their love, We are glad to finally bring everyone together to pronounce our love in front of friends and family...I know all that is worded wrong...but know what I'm saying? Make it about them finally being able to be home and pronounce and share their love with everyone. I think it will be sweet and meaningful that they want to do this again just so family and friends can be there. Make it along those lines. I know people who have done this or come back home for a reception and celebration. Good luck!

I love that idea. I will work on that. Thank you!

It's perfectly acceptable to do the whole traditional thing and walk your daughter down the aisle and have flower girls and everything else. A friend of mine had a neice who was stationed overseas and got married by the chaplain and then when they got leave came back here and had a large wedding. And I think Fairy_Tale_Bride's suggestion is perfect - call it a celebration of their love.
