Wedding Gifts HELP!!!!!

I am getting married in June so we have two wedding showers planned soon but I have no idea what I TRUELY NEED so I can request from the people buying gifts. I would just like some help making a list of the most needed things, we have registered at WalMart and for our China but where else should we Register. Also my registry at walmart is VERY long and I think I may have included too many small items, such as small kitchen things. I JUST REALLY NEED HELP AND WOULD LOVE SOME ADVICE AND FOR YOU TO SHARE YOUR TRUELY NEEDED GIFT IDEAS. PLEASE HELP SOON!!!!!!!!

I am sure you did just fine. I like to buy a lot of small kitchen things and put them together into a bigger gift.

Here's a suggestion - a good set of kitchen knives is a must. I also really like my "gripper" cutting boards. They are plastic and don't slide around when you cut on them.

Register for bedding, towels, any appliances you might need/want; people didn't use my registries properly and I ended up getting 5 boxes of flatware!! And not one crockpot! On theother hand, my SIL got NO flatware and 3 crockpots! So- just have fun with it and pick out stuff you want/need, but wouldn't necessarily spend the money on yourself.

We registered at Wal-Mart, Target. and FamousBarr. We didn't even register for china, I knew I would never ever use it. I had already bought a set of Martha Stewart plain white place settings, and I love them.

Usually people only register at 2, maybe 3, places.

The first things that went from my registry were the appliances. Things like Coffee Maker, toaster oven, kitchenaid mixer, etc. Also, serving items are popular to buy.

Is this the first time you are living on your own? Make sure you register for a wide variety of priced items. Also check the return policy of the places you register at. Some are stricter than others.

I know the Wedding Channel site has a list of items you 'need'. Really the list is outrageously long, but it gives you an idea.

My DS also set up a registry (wish list) at Amazon....lots of his friends used that.

One can never have too many linens!!
And small items are great. People can make a great gift from those and they fit in everyone's budget

All I can really think to say is just register for what you want, don't worry about the price.

We registered for a $1500 grill at Sears after the guy harrassed us to register for what we want and not the smaller one. I'm glad we did--DH's office all went in on the grill. Had we registered for the smaller one, we probably wouldn't have gotten it (too small for the group gifts and too much for an individual). We also registered for the horribly expensive Waterford crystal which my mother just had a heartattack over. So many of my parents friends liked it and knowing it was quality, bought us a ton of it. I almost got all of it, just a couple of glasses shy, and I registered for every glass up to 12 in that pattern.

And as for the little things, most people just buy bunches of them to make up a bigger gift. I've bought all baking things and a pan or two for wedding gifts.

What I also wished I would have registered more for was platters and other serving dishes. Especially matching ones. I never have enough when I need to use them and then what I do have is all mix-matched. Just look for what you don't have and can see yourself using down the line (yard tools for example).

Don't forget about registering for things like tools, especially a cordless drill, drill bits, tool box if you two don't have tools.

ITA! We registered for a set of Henkels knives but they weren't the top quality ones. I felt guilty for asking for expensive knives but I ended up replacing the cheaper ones after a few months.

I also wished I had registered for tools. We needed them!

I don't think you can have too many sheets and towels. They wear out pretty quickly. Don't forget spare bedroom for sheets etc also.
Everything for the kitchen is great. Mixer, blender, toaster oven, pots and pans, etc. Vaccum, gas grill, george forman grill. Good knives are great with a really good cutting board.

For appliances, I recommend a KitchenAid Stand Mixer if you like to cook or bake; the Cuisinart combination food processor/blender; a Rival crockpot (great for having dinner ready when you get home, and also for keeping food warm for buffet dinners/parties); an iced tea maker; an electric knife (a lifesaver on Thanksgiving); a good coffee maker. We also love our George Foreman grill, but I'd try to get a new one with the removable grids that will go in the dishwasher.

For serving pieces, I like crystal or glass b/c they will always match even if you get new dishes, paint the kitchen, move etc. Some of the pieces I love that I use all the time are a chip and dip set (use that practically any time we have company, no matter how casual), a cake dome (I often leave it on the counter with whatever I have baked that week), and a trifle bowl (throw just about anything in this -- fruit, salad, pudding layered with cool whip -- and it looks fancy). I also love my big wooden salad bowl.

A good set of stainless steel mixing bowls, stainless steel measuring cups and spoons will last forever.

Corningware is great for casserole dishes.

A set of Pyrex with lids -- good for baking casseroles, pies, etc.

Two good cookie sheets.

A good set of pots and pans.

Bathroom accessories, such as toothbrush holder, etc.

I really like Pfaltzgraff for everyday dishes. They are wonderful quality, dishwasher safe, and have a ton of cute patterns. Check out their website.

A set of everyday flatware -- Oneida or Pfaltzgraff are good.

We registered for good china (Royal Doulton) and good crystal too. I am so glad I did b/c I really enjoy using them now that we have a dining room. I wish I had also registered for a good set of flatware -- I ended up buying it years later (Lenox).

Everything you need for bedding is also good -- comforter, dust ruffle, sheets, mattress pad, pillows, pillow protectors.

A good vaccuum cleaner, plus a dustbuster or something similar.

Cloth napkins, placemats, and napkin rings. Tablecloths if you know the size of your table.

Any electronics such as an alarm clock, phone, DVD player.

I really like Bed Bath and Beyond, several of my friends have registered there and I always get 20% coupons in the mail for them.

one of my favorite wedding gifts was the huge laudry basket filled with dish soap/towels, small kitchen and bathroom stuff my parents gave us.

I'd definitely register for all those kitchen gadgets you wouldn't justify buying for yourself.

*Good* towels are a must! I went shopping for towels recently & whew. Decent towels aren't cheap. I told DH right then & there that I needed to get a divorce so I could remarry & register for those towels.

I've gotten the feeling that people still prefer to buy items over doing a honeymoon or house registry---not that I'm crazy about either of those ideas anyway.

Just don't be too surprised at what you do end up getting---when I registered (a million years ago!), I got all the china I asked for but none of the crystal or flatware. Go figure. I wish places like Target had registries back then!

I agree with register for some big items and if you want the china register for it and also silver or crystal for one very good reason you probably won't get it if you don't do it now! However you will get yourself a coffeemaker or sheets or microwave Believe me I was practical and didn't get china figured I would get it later when I could afford it well that has never happened first it was a house downpayment then it was we should pay off the student loans now it is violins and dental bills(kids) The fine quality stuff you will have forever and enjoy and I feel people like buying things like that, at least I do. Enjoy and take one last time to not be practical.
