wedding favors

Since dh and I both like to cook, we made individual small bottles of flavored oils. We were asked for the recipes alot after that. We had a great time making them and it was something our guests could use.

My DD had personalized CDs of their favorite songs. One CD per family. Cost about $30.00 for 50. :bride: :groom:

I was at my cousin's wedding this weekend and she did the same thing. They had about 15 love songs by a wide variety of artists and a personalized cardboard case and label on the CD w/ a picture of the bride and groom. I really liked the idea, and you can get the CDs for pennies a piece. WE listened to it on the way home. She also had votive candles, m&ms w/ their names on them, and the table assignments/cards had little boxes w/ candy as well.

I always enjoy the matchbooks. I use them for lighting my candles. For some reason, I can always seem to find a matchbook but I have to search for a lighter. :)

I was just at a wedding where they gave coasters that say "LOVE" on them. They are now on our coffee table and we use them everyday...great idea!

I did donations to a soup kitchen my mom volunterred at, in her memory and that went over really well.

We're using our favor money and making at donation in honor of our guests. I figured there are people who could really use a few extra dollars and it would be a nice way to honor our wedding guests. Originally we had charities picked out, but we might change our mind now that Katrina happened.

A cute one we saw at a Spring wedding once was a packet of flower seeds with a little poem attached about growing a garden of love. Very cute and I used the seeds! :flower:

We made chocolates for my wedding. They were mint green, pink and cream flowers. Everyone thought they were guest soaps. :teeth:

We gave out heart-shaped sugar cookies. They were the large (4") size heart. Mom made frosting leaves/roses for each cookie, wrote our names and wedding date on each one in frosting, and tied an organdy ribbon through each one (cut out hole with straw before baking). You can kinda see them in the lower right hand corner (these aren't mine...this is off the Wilton site!)

We then packaged them in white cake boxes. It ended up being pretty economical, as she already had all the frosting supplies since she bakes a lot. Main expense was the cake boxes....got those at a party store. Here's the instructions if anyone is interested:

Other favors we've gotten:
CD--nice and personal
bookmark--tucked it in a book and forgot about it
matches--stick 'em in my candle drawer :)
small frame as place card holder--I love frames!
truffles--YUM!
anything edible--always a hit :)
candle--well, since it was the unscented little tealight (think bag of 100 at WalMart) it wasn't very impressive. It was just wrapped in a circle of tulle. Just looked like they didn't put much thought into it. But it was still nice that they gave out favors :)

And several weddings, now that I think of it, where none were given at all. And until now, I'd never noticed! I'm sure whatever you do will be appreciated by your guests :)

We gave out small boxes of Godiva chocolate at our wedding. They were a big hit and we really enjoyed the leftovers!

We had customized CD's. The cost was rather inexpensive since we burned them ourselves and I ordered the labels. We played only big band/swing at our wedding and that is what was on our CD's.

How pretty!

My brother-in-law had a "destination wedding" in May. The wedding was on Marco Island, Florida. Almost all of the guests (approximately 60) were from Michigan. The bride's parents live in Florida. When we checked into the hotel, we had a huge basket from the bride and groom with a beach towel for each of us embroidered with their names and the wedding date, a tube of sunscreen also with their names and wedding date. There was a message in a bottle in the basket thanking everyone for coming. Every couple (or single guest) traveling for the wedding had that basket when they arrived. It also had fresh muffins, scones, juice, etc. It really was neat.

At the wedding (on the Marco Island Princess) we had "fans" that doubled as the program. Also, every family's photograph was taken as we boarded the boat and the next day at a huge barbeque all of those pictures had been framed and we were each given our picture as we left the party.

It was great fun!

I made molded chocolates, in milk, white, and green. (Green chocolate? lol) I made claddaghs, shamrocks, fleur-de-lis, and Disney. I wrapped them in Pooh bags and put them in a castle box. Childish, yes, but my friends expect that. ;-) It was an Irish/Renaissance/Disney wedding.

I like getting candles or matchbooks. My best friend did the jordan almond thing. Ick! I'm allergic and couldn't even help wrap them, let alone touch the bags.

I personally could do without 90% of the favors. I dis ink pens and memo pads. I figure most people need pads for messages and something to write with.

I also did the M&M's for DD's graduation. You can order plain ones int he same colors to add to your personalized ones to cut costs.

Thanks! You know, I love the photographs on his site, but my proofs don't really look like that :rotfl: Thanks though!
