I think I have decided on our wedding favors. I am going to do personalized Christmas ornaments! We are getting married Dec. 8th so I thought that would be really neat. DH2B and I will be there a week before the wedding so I thought that I would go to Downtown Disney and have them made there. It also saves a little on $ since I only have to have one ornament per couple!!

just to let you know at the holiday season at the christmas shoppe where they personalize the ornaments. it can get really busy and take up to 1 week to get your items. i would call. i know this because we were there the first two weeks of december last year and they said it would be a 5-6 day wait for our personalization. just something to keep in mind.
we had the little chocolate mickey mouse ears all our guests loved it and it was very inexpensive. maybe you could preorder them if you were getting them personalized. good luck

I am going to plug www.newyorkchocolates.com I think their chocolates look great!

Oh wow, I LOVE that idea. My fiance and I are looking into the photo chocolates. How cute! Thanks for the suggestion, we also really like the Cinderella chocolates.

I'm not having my wedding at Disney, so we're not going to do the Disney theme for our favors, but we're getting personalized wine bottles with our names/date on them from our favorite winery where we live...it's Bully Hill, don't know if anyone's heard of them before, but they're great, and the favors are only $2/bottle (187mL)

I remember about 3 or 4 years ago when my cousin was working at Typhoon Lagoon and during the winter, they would put them at other locations for a month or two. She was a life gaurd at TP and they put her at the Christmas Shoppe. SHe went from wearing a swimsuit and windpants to an over sized, skirt (with a pettycoat) and a big poofy sleeved shirt with a high collar! It was pretty amusing! ANYWAY, to get to my point, I remember now how hectic it was during that time and how she would tell me the horror stories of the ornament personalizing line!! Thanks for jarring my memory, I think I will call ahead, perhaps I can have them delivered right to our resort!

Hi Guys,

Christmas ornaments are an excellent favor idea around the holidays - people can always use them to decorate. My friend had a wedding around the holidays and got these delightful heart candles in a box with a wine colored ribbon - they were delightful:

These were a big hit - and looked great.

Good idea on calling in advance on the ornaments. We went to the Christmas shop the day after our wedding on 12/7 and personalization was not ready until 12/14 with no guarantee of Christmas delivery. Lucky for us, we received our ornament via UPS on Christmas Eve.
One more "yay" for New York Chocolates. We had them make yellow castle lollipops. We had them sticking out of a Chinese takeout box which we personalized with gold foil Mickey stickers and our names and wedding date on two sides. We filled the inside with wedding and normal fortune cookies we hand dipped in white, milk and Kalua chocolate and sprinkled with purple and yellow chocolate. We wrapped the whole thing up with a purple tule bow. We had dinner at CG, so with the sushi CG is infamous for, it worked perfectly AND it was quite an economical, personal favor!

I love the ornaments idea -- would never have thought of it! A friend of mine had seeds in little packets with their names, etc. and growing directions on them. Their geusts could plant their own flowers and remember the couple. I thought that was a cute idea also.

I was to a wedding in December where they had little gold bells with red ribbons and a note -- something to the effect, ring these to have the bride and groom kiss and then hang it on your tree to remember this special couple.

I don't have the exact wording but it was very cute and, I would think, very inexpensive. I know the bride added the the ribbons and notes herself.

What about personalised cd's with yours and your H2B's favaourite Xmas tunes on ?

When I wa getting an ornament this past Dec at MGM I was going to put it off but the woman said the wait was only an hour compared to waiting a week at the Downtown Disney location.

we got actually got all favor stuff from one website, great. They have organza bags, even pvc cute look favor box. :) and gater (blue)
if i am not wrong, I believe the site is idearibbon

I really like all these favor ideas! I love the Christmas ornament idea-- that's awesome! However, I would agree with others on here that it can take a while. We were in Disney last week and it took a couple of days to get our ornament personalized.

We're still pretty far out from our wedding (2008) :cloud9: , but we're planning on giving a donation to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital in honor of each guest (a few dollars per guest), and then they give you a bookmark or scroll to give to each guest telling them what you have done. There is no minimum donation, but we just decided we would give as much as we would have spent on regular favors. Anyone else doing this?

I really haven't kept most of the favors I've gotten at weddings (unless they were yummy snacks or someone really close to me), but we thought this would be memorable and a really good cause.

Just food for thought. A lot of organizations offer this service now as it's becoming increasingly popular.

Hi just saw these on Disneyshopping.com

http://disneyshopping.go.com/webapp...&productId=1198549&langId=-1&categoryId=14904

these would be really cute and you could have someone personalize them for you with a paint pen.

The ornament idea is a great one! It's perfect for a December wedding. You could also personalize the ornaments yourself using glass paint, or even permanent markers.

A friend of mine did this recently, by having the favors be donations. The guests really liked it. And I think that if what you are giving is really not something anyone would want to keep...that this would be a great, and really classy alternative.

I gave vintage-looking tin litho wind-up toys. It's something I would want to keep...but I hope everyone else thought so too! :teeth:

I hope our guests like the idea of the donation and no one thinks we were trying to get out of giving them a gift! Besides being a really good cause, we figured all of our guests are coming in from out of town and probably didn't need something else to lug home (and possibly lose). So hopefully people will be as receptive to the idea as you were!

Oooh, I like the toy idea-- especially vintage! How fun! I'm sure your guests loved them-- I know I would want to keep it! Want me to PM you my address?!? :rotfl:

I was planning on doing favors from the American Brownie Co. They are an Orlando based company- the owners use to be Disney pastry chefs! I met them doing a demonstration and they showed me what they could do for wedding favors! Two brownies (any flavor) in a decorated box with one brownie decorated as the groom's tux and the other as the brides dress! They customize it to match your wedding ensembles! Hard to really explain, but I saw some pictures and they are adorable! The brownies taste excellent, too!
I also love the idea of doing a donation! That would be a great duo!

Good Idea! My company sells stuffed animals every year to benifit St. Jude's! They're only $9.99 + tax and all the proceeds go to St. Judes! We were able to raise $2Mil. last year and hope to do over $3mil this year! I think helping St. Judes is a great gift to your guests! :thumbsup2
