All past and future brides out there. I've been told you will "know" your wedding dress when you see it. Well I just got back from a mega bridal store. I also went shopping a few weeks ago. I now have my dresses narrowed down to about 5.

But I'm not like ohhh... I must have this one. I'm going to go back in a few weeks and re-try on my selections. I was just wondering if anyone else didn't have the "I must have this dress moment".

I like them, all, but right now, there's only 1 or 2 that I seem to like a little more than the others.

I'm not sure if I had that moment either......I liked almost all of the dresses I tried on......I think I picked my veil first & then chose the best dress for the veil

I had the "Oh goodness this is the one" moment! I actually saw my dress online-- went to the store and then tried it on. I knew it was the one even though it was the first wedding dress I had ever tried on. The lady asked me to try on more and I humored her-- but after about 3 more dresses I told her that I was waisting both of our times because I KNEW that the dress I came after was the one..

...and so it was :)

GL:thumbsup2 and keep looking! Im sure youll find that dress and have that moment too!

Yeah, I don't think that fits for everyone.

I bought one because it was cheap and I couldn't pass it up. I thought it looked okay on me and it fit what I envisioned. It was $69 so I bought it and decided it was THE dress.

Took my bridal portraits, got them back, HATED how that dress looked on me. It wasn't flattering at all and I looked huge.

So, 3 weeks before the wedding I went in search of a gown I felt good in. My mother almost had a heart attack ;) I found it - 2 weeks out - though I found several I liked in the process. This one fit like a glove, was a price I could afford, and was a sample that JUST came in so not one soul had tried it on before me. I bought it right then and there.

Didn't need any alterations and it even had the french bustle already sewn in!

The best part was that I look back on our pictures and think how beautiful I looked. I practically buried the earlier bridal portraits so no one else will see them =)

So, in a way, both gowns were process of elimination. My logical side just always plays a big role in decisions - even about a bridal gown.

I saw mine on the cover of a bride magazine (don't remember which one, it's been too long), brought it with me to the store, tried it on along with two others, and went back to the one I saw on the cover and bought it!

I didn't have a "this is the one" moment. The rest of my family had the moment for me. I went with all the women of my family and I basically stood in the fitting room as they brought me dresses.

I came out of the fitting room, everyone sighed, told me this was it, and I bought it. I figured they knew how it looked on. If it had just been me, I probably wouldn't have picked that one. But in the pictures, it did flatter my shape. So, they did know what they were talking about.

Same here. Good luck on your choice.:goodvibes

I did have that moment!! I tried on a bunch of dresses in the style I *thought* I liked and found a bunch that I did like. Then I tried one on that was not at all what I thought I would like ... Strapless with a sweetheart neckline ... I LOVED IT!!!

I actually bought my wedding dress online through a company in Texas rather than the boutique that I found it in. The company has a store in Texas but also ships the dresses out. I saved over $400 on it that way. Just a tid-bit of info!

I leafed through all the bridal magazines, ripping out pages of the style I thought I wanted, went to the stores with the pictures and tried on a few of the dresses...can we say "get a bucket, I'm gonna throw up"? They all looked horrid on me. Then my mom suggested trying on an off-white gown. I never even considered that. First one I tried on and bam! It was perfect!! I didn't buy it there, I went to a different bridal shop (one that didn't have part-time high school girls working that knew nothing) and had the greatest experience ever. My dress was definitely one of the highlights of my wedding.

It was funny when my sister got married this year and when she picked out her dress, it was almost a carbon copy of my dress! Guess we know now what looks good on the girls in our family!

I had the moment. I had tried on a bunch and wasn't even sure I wanted a "wedding gown". I was pretty set on not spending a lot of money and thought I wanted a tea length dress. I went into a store to look at "mother of the bride" type dresses, but in white - when I found THE dress. It even had a short train.

I never had that "oooh" moment. I never really dreamed of that big white dress though so I bought a cheap, discontinued model. It was an amazing dress for the price and I was pretty happy with it.

I was super picky about my veil though!

I had the big OMG moment ohhhhhhhh a month and a week before my wedding when I saw a dress I was in love with on ebay. It was actually custom made to my measurements and arrived in two weeks which was great. The other dress that I had bought much earlier was to large and to detailed to be altered down to the size I was by the time I got married.

I saw the dress I bought inside a bridal magazine...this was many moons ago..and I brought the magazine into a bridal shop and the lady pulled the dress out, I tryed it on, started crying and bought it! It took a total of 20 minutes! :rotfl: that has to be a world record! I didnt even try on any others.

everyone's different. after a few more try-ons i'm sure you'll pick which one you want.

i'm really picky with my stuff. like with my prom dress i remembered seeing it in a magazine and i said "that's the dress. i'm getting that dress, i have to have that dress" and i went out and got the dress!

it was almost the same with my wedding dress. i saw it online on the designers website and said "that's my dress".....the funny thing is it was in red when i saw it. and i went to go to the bridal store that sold that designer, and it was an older model, so they didn't have it in the store, i had to special order it and they said i would actually have to purchase the dress. and i was so worried, because i was afraid i might not like it. so i ordered it and it came in and i tried it on and i think i loved it even more. it was so beautiful!! the back and everything it just looks so pretty.

so i'm sure you'll find your dress, don't freak out about it. you probably will "know" which one you want soon.

I bought my crystal beads in Switzerland and the lace in brussels (we got engaged in Europe) I had the veil made and then looked for a dress that would match. I loved my dress but I didnt have that OMG moment. I did when I saw my veil though.!!! My dress was pretty but I loved, loved, loved the sparkly veil!!!

I found 2 at the second store that I visited. Both were OMG,this is it. They were very different- one was very sophisticated and the other looked vintage. The one I chose was the one that I thought my DH would like best-the vintage dress.

Yup...I had it...actually, my mom did.

She and I had had a big fight the morning I went dress shopping. She told me how disappointed she was that I wanted a traditional wedding (my mom's a weirdo radical leftist...I love her, so don't get upset if you're a weirdo radical leftist....anyway, I rebeled by becoming a moderate and I wanted a real church wedding. :sad2: my parents were so disappointed in me)

Anyway, she went with me grudgingly and we went to the cheap bridal salon first (I paid for my own wedding and had no money to speak of). I tried on what I thought would be the perfect dress and it was ok. On a whim, I decide to try the real bridal salon. The saleswoman brough me a dress (I didn't think I'd like) I put it on and my mother cried. My "I don't believe in traditional weddings" mother actually cried and said how beautiful I looked.

I bought the dress. It cost me $450.

I ended up buying the first dress I tried on, but I waited a month and shopped around to make sure it wasn't a rash decision. It was the one I kept thinking about, and it ended up being one. But I didn't have that OMG feeling. The dress is important, but I knew that the dress didn't make or break the day.
