Wedding Dress in the Parks Rumor

I heard somewhere that they will not permit you into the parks in your wedding dress...is that true? I was really hoping to sneak in at some point during the day and take a couple pictures

It is absolutely forbidden unless you book a photo shoot through Disney photography. The photo sessions are beautiful and completely worth the money, so you might want to try going that route

Unfortunately this is true. There are liability issues with children mistaking you for a princess, I believe. As far as I know, except for very special circumstances, you aren't allowed any sort of costume in the parks.

The only other time (other than the photoshoots) when you can wear your dress in a park is if you are having a private event such as a dessert party. When we had mine we came into Epcot from the back and were escorted to the Lower UK. It was pretty cool and during the short walk everyone cheered and clapped, some people even took pictures!

Thanks! I was just coming back to post about the dessert parties, or if you hold your reception in the park (in the world showcase pavilions.) Wasn't it fun to have everyone clap and wave

It's not a rumor it is 100% fact. Sorry but there is no way you would be allowed to 'sneak' in.

This is all true. The only other potential loophole I have heard about -- but I have not seen anyone actually do this -- is that they *might* let you go in if you go to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. In this case, the wedding dress would be your "costume."

Like I said, I do not know of anyone actually successfully doing this, I just remember someone posting a question about it a while back.

Someone please correct me if you have more info!

It is true. I got married in May, we went to Fulton's Crab House for lunch (the food was terrible but that is another story). On my way to the bathroom I had a little boy tugging on my dress, he asked if I was Cinderella, I said no, he looked so upset. His mom said, he thought you were a princess and wanted my autograph and picture.

I thought that was so sweet. I then worked out why they didn't want you to go in the parks. The little boy's expression was bad, but imagine if a group of children noticed you, its shattering the magic of Disney.

I have to say though the MK photo shoot is so worth it. If you really want park photos.

While we were in the Grand Floridian having our reception, a mum and daughter came to me and asked to have their picture taken with me. I said yes and after - thought oh my did they go home later and think which one was she?

I'm still waiting to see if anyone has gone to any of the hard ticket events...I know adults can also dress up for Pirate and Princess parties...What’s more princessy then a wedding dress

If i get up the nerve in Oct...i'll report back...but will probably just go as Alice again

Wendy I wondered this myself, originally my mom wanted to dress as a princess but has decided to go as a pirate as my DF and I both are. But I must admit, a wedding dress could be very princessy and I don't see how they could really refuse. These parties confuse me, how are we not going to get mistaken for people that work there?

They will politely ask guests not to take pictures with other guests...it does get hard as we all went a peter pan characters one year, there were six of us (Tink, Peter, Wendy, Hook, Michelle and the Gator)...we got stopped a lot....If you do CM's will issue you a warning ....if you ignore them they will ask you to remove your costume or leave....

So i dont see how that would be different then a wedding dress

This was a debate with me too, wear the dress in the park for Not-So-Scary.....

We're getting married on Halloween at SBP and we're taking everyone we know to Not-So-Scary that night (our *FAVORITE* disney event), and I thought, 'well, what else would we go as except for a bride and groom?' I did not directly ask my planner as to whether or not I could wear my gown, but she was talking to me about going to Not-So-Scary with everyone and she was like, "remember, wedding attire is not allowed in the parks." So my guess is for the hard ticket events it's out as well.

*HOWEVER* to get around this (hopefully!).....my DF and I have decided to dress as Master Gracey and his Bride from the Haunted Mansion. My friend is actually making me a secondary dress to wear. It's not as intricate and beautiful as my dress, but what the heck!

Plus- most dresses now a days are pretty poofy- do you really want to try to squeeze yourself on a ride in something like that?
