we choose ours based on the school calendar (we are both teachers) mainly but also on weather and density of special days (I am a December baby and we celebrate Christmas and Chanukah so it gets rather busy). We both love the fall and he loves Halloween so it just worked out.

My DH does not enjoy the heat so anytime during the summer months was out for us. We got engaged on Valentines Day and I wanted to be married within that same year. We ended up choosing Oct 22.
I'm not really sure if that made everyone happy, I know it made me and DH happy so that's all that really mattered!
Fortunately for us both my parents retired the summer before our wedding so we didn't have to worry about them getting off work. As for everyone else, we provided able time for them to make arragements for time off and to travel.

well we always go to Disney in September as its really quiet and its still hot and we wanted everyone that came to benefit from short queues as they would be first timers so it would have always been September.

It just so happened that DF proposed on our last holiday on the 12th Sept and we thought it would be nice to choose this date. It also helps him to remember the date better as there are less numbers swirling around his head!

We chose 2011 as we need time to save and also to give our guests time to save too! We are only inviting immediate family so i'm sure they would come no matter where we got married so hopefully we won't have any issues with our choice. We're sending out our STD at the beginning of Feb so fingers crossed!

We have only just started to think about dates and we are hoping for some time in April (preferably the end).

It's the month we picked to go to Disney for our first holiday - because it wasn't too hot, crowded, or expensive and we had our first official date in April (even though my OH still claims it was March).

Plus like others have said we have thought about our other celebrations throughout the year and April isn't a very crowded month for us :)

I had picked the day before my Birthday and my parents said okay. Than they posted on there facebook that is not a great idea. and than it was pick a warmer month. I am about to give up. I said why don't they just plan it and I will just show up. Even the price of a dress is to expensive for my Dad. I found 2 dress under 300.00 and one dress that was 649.00. He said he was taking me to david's bridal for the $99.00 gown sale. I am a plus size. I told him it hard to find me a dress. But the Date we picked April 21, 2012 and we are not changing it for anyone. It's our special day no one elses. Nothing else falls on that day no one birthday no one annivary. so My Df's love the date It's our date.

They we picked our date...These are the things we took into consideration...

1) Day of the week-I am a wedding planner so I did not want to take up people's Friday, Saturday or Sundays...So we picked a Monday. This way if the event professionals that I want to bring with me to Disney have a Friday or Saturday wedding then they can still make it to Florida by Monday. It would also help the people out who can only take off for 2-3 days…they can still have a 5 day vacation if they arrive in Florida on Saturday and leave on Wednesday. We will also be able to save ourselves some money this way, since Monday through Thursday weddings minimums are less.

2) Month-It had to be summer for us since we have a bunch of teachers in our families-especially our ring bearer and flower girls mothers. June is CRAZY birthday month...July is usually a beach month...so that leaves August. Plus Disney usually does the "free" dining plan then that our guests might be able to take advantage of...AND airline tickets will be less expensive for everyone.

3) Year-We got engaged on 1-1-10 and I wanted people to be able to come and enjoy our wedding and a family vacation so August 2010 was out-we picked 2011-this way it gives people time to save and plan.

4) Day-Since we picked August I knew that the end of the month was no good since my family attends a two week vacation/gathering in Ohio...so that leaves the beginning of August, 2011. The only thing we had to do was decide what Monday number sounded best…8-1-11, 8-8-11, or 8-15-11…we liked 8-8-11 the best…

And THAT is how WE picked our date…Now before I could make it official and call Disney I had to call my best friend (since her birthday is 8-8)…Luckily my BF was SUPER excited about our wedding being on her birthday that she had NO problems. We plan on getting her a birthday cake for at our reception-she would LOVE it if all our guests sang happy birthday to her-we just might have too!

Good luck picking your date!:wave2:

We picked 12-1-11 based on the fact that my boyfriend proposed to me on 12-1-09 and we will have been together for ten years in 2011.
