Hi guys,

I'm just filling in my request form for my intimate wedding and we're thinking of having the pound cake with butter cream for the filling.

The thing is that I'm Lactose Intolerant - can I ask for them to make the cake lactose free? I'd really like to eat some of it!

RJ

PS has anyone had the pound cake, is it good? We were tempted by the chocolate but thought it might be a bit overpowering in the heat.

:confused3

I'm not sure if that's possible or not (I would think it is, though. JMO), but I was wondering if you've ever tried Lactaid Ultra pills? My DH2B is also lactose intolerant and they work very well for him. If he knows he's going to have a lot of dairy or is in a situation where he absolutely does not want to risk getting sick even though he's only going to have a tiny bit of dairy, he'll take 2 or 3 of the pills and he has no problems at all. If you haven't tried them, I would strongly recommend them. They are over-the-counter and you can get them at any drugstore. However, if you haven't ever used them, and are going to consider, I would try them at home with different meals (different amounts of dairy) just to test my tolerance. Especially since you want to be as comfy as can be on your wedding day! :earsgirl:

p.s. If you try them, make sure to get the ones that say 'Ultra'. They work much better than the regular pills.

Is it milk and butter you are sensitive to? Consider Angel food--it's mostly egg whites. Or perhaps your main cake can be pound cake(made with a pound of butter, a cup of milk and about 8 eggs) and have a special cake for you & DH to consume.

Thanks for your help guys - I do take drugs to lessen the effects but I have to time it right or I'm trouble and it's easier not to have to worry.

I didn't realise that pound cake was made mostly with butter doh! We don't really have them on the UK - I'll go for Angel food I think :0)

Thanks again

RJ

Your best bet would be to ask you coordinator for a small lactose free cake along with your standard cake. And since your wedding is in November, the heat shouldn't be a factor as to your flavor choice

I'm sure Disney can accomodate you perfectly. They're going to be making us a miniature wedding cake for our honeymoon and can make it citric acid free (one of the world's biggest preservatives) so I'm sure they can do it lactose free. Plus, the majority of the world is sensitive to lactose. A lot of people in the states are unaware of this fun fact but in Asian cultures its a very common thing, not to mention in many European ones as well. The gene for being lactos tolerant is now more widespread than it was previously but the majority of stomaches worldwide are caused by a sensitivity to lactose that the peopel suffering the stomaches are not even aware of! So in short as a worldwide company they shoudl definitely be able to do this, and if they can't, it's about time they start! Start a trend with it. :)
