Does anyone know if I can have a Disney cake for my NY wedding? Unfortunately we can't afford a wedding in Disney, but would like to bring the Disney theme to our wedding in NY. I have seen specials on the Food Network about Disney weddings and the cakes are so beautiful. I would love to have one. If anyone knows how I can make this possible I would truly appreciate the information.
Thanks!!

gosh...i couldn't even begin to think how you could get a wedding cake shipped to you. i've only just begun venturing into the realm of cake decorating...did a wedding cake for a friend's wedding last weekend and freaked out while transporting it 25 miles away! i couldn't imagine shipping it any further. cakes are so delicate and fragile...

i'd be interested to know if they do anything like this and exactly how they do it!

Im not sure how you would go about that, but my suggestion would be to find a disney wedding cake you like and have someone in New York design it for you. If you need a link to Disney cakes I can get you one. Let me know!!

Good Luck!

hi jamie, would you mind sharing that link? :teeth: I'm interested as well. I'm not having a disney wedding but will incorporate it to my wedding here in San Diego. TIA!:earsboy:

I cannot see a way of getting a genuine Disney Cake to a NY wedding; I bet that you can find a place that will make a copy for you... You can buy the Toppers and other ornamentation from WDW (407)363-6200. I am afraid the actual cake may have to be made locally. I know Baskin&Robbins has some Disney layouts, but it is a little informal.

My suggestion, again, is to do the Tastings, and ask. Find the cake you like and negotiate something close with a genuine Disney Topper.

Sort of along these lines... (don't want to make a whole new post)...

Can you have a small cake delivered to your room? Like an anniversary cake, or just the top of the cake? FI and I will be there on our honeymoon and thought it would be fun to have a Disney cake to celebrate. :D

Thank you to everyone. I appreciate all the advice. It seems like the best thing to do is have my caterer try to re-create one of the dis cakes. Thanks again!!

One thing you might do is purchase a white chocolate cake top for your wedding cake. They are sold by Impressions.

You could speak to your baker and see if they could integrate the castle into your at home wedding cake.

The website is http://www.fairytalewedding.com/

bubbaloo..

Thanks so much for the link. I think a castle cake topper would be perfect! They are soo beautiful. I appreciate your help!

Yesterday of the Food Network they had a special Disney Unwrapped...there was a section on how they make the wedding cakes. OMG the details...they can make individual serving size wedding cakes so everyone has their own individual magic... they start with the individual layers, cut the top off so it is smooth. Then they cover the layers in fondant. for decorations, they dip a special pin in sparkly stuff to stamp the cake with Mickey's and the occasional Donald, Goofy etc. They have an artist paint with Chocolate paints. They apply clouds with sugar water.... OMG, My mouth was watering!!!!!

:bounce:

that unwrapped special was a rerun...but i always love watching it!! (i have it taped!) i love the details of their cakes!! that special is actually what inspired me to take the cake decorating classes to begin with! i had to learn how to do that...that special and then the wedding special they did also inspired me!

psssssssssst....did you happen to catch the clip on chef mickey's? and did you see the quick flash of the girl with the bridal ears on in the red shorts with goofy kissing her hand? that was me!! that segment was actually filmed on sept 11, 2002...the day after our wedding!

WOW, Yes I did, you are a really cute couple, and (yes, I saw it when it was first run...)

Hi...I am also from NY...Long Island to be exact! I wanted a Disney Wedding too..even went down to Disney and met with the planners and had everything held for us....but when it came down to it we had to rebook to NY due to money.
Anyway, our catering hall has agreed to recreate my dream disney cake...the one with the silver mickey heads all over it. You should ask your caterer...I am sure anything can be done!

gwtw428...

Thanks for the advice. I didn't think they could get the patterns to re-create the silver mickey heads. That's great to know. I am going to have to chat with my caterer and find out. It seems like I have so many options now, which is very exciting.

Thanks again!!

Yes, you certainly can. We will be having one made for our first anniversary on our next WDW trip. We sent them a picture of our wedding cake (our wedding was last December) and they are making a small two-tier recreation of it. They are even doing the same flavors they did when they made our real cake and using a small chocolate cake topper in place of the larger one we had on our wedding day. Just contact the Grand Floridian bakery and they can give you all your options/cost.
