We are about to make our FINAL decision on the flavours of our wedding cake, as we never got round to having a planning session I have no idea of what any of flavours taste like, any advice or recommendations are grately appreciated!!
Here is what we are thinking...
Chocolate cake with baileys mousse
Marble cake with dark chocolate mouse (what is German chocolate???)
Yellow cake with Mocha mouse

Thanks all!!!!!:)

We tried all of those combinations at our planning session and they're all delicious.

I was surprised at how good the mocha mousse was. I don't like coffee or coffee flavors at all, but the mocha was yummy.

we are having carrot and cream cheese and chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse

I loved the rasberry mousse as well

Thank you! I feel a bit better that my combinations arent going to be sickly and awful! I would love to have something like the rasberry but DF is a chocolate fiend and wont be budged away from sweet choc!!

We're having yellow sponge & strawberry mousse on the top layer and the bottom layer will be marble sponge with white chocolate mousse with fresh strawberries :lovestruc Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm - can't wait to get my mits on it :lmao:

WE DID ALmond cake w/ baileys filling -----AWESOME:woohoo:

German Chocolate Cake is Chocolate, Coconut, and (I believe) pecans. German Chocolate filling or topping is a caramel made with egg yolks and evaporated milk; once the caramel is cooked, coconut and pecans are stirred in. Although I am not a big fan of it, I did work at Coldstone about 4-5 years ago and I do remember our Germanchokolatekake creation was quite popular.

The almond cake to me was the BEST! I loved it. It went very well with either the Amaretto or the Bavarian cream.

Actually any of the cake was good. I was very surprised at how good everything was. Oh the Chocolate with the Peanut Butter filling is really good too!

Your choices sound really good!!!!

We had chocolate chip cake with chocolate mousse!!! The best cake I ever had in my life..seriously!!!!! Disney does a graet job with thier wedding cakes :)

The chocolate cake with baileys is great.. thats our bottom layer.
we also did yellow cake with amarretto mousse.
and chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse.

I went "off script" and had a yellow cake with almond buttercream...it was soooo good, I had so many people tell me that it was great.
(i also asked for chocolate sauce to be on the table and I drizzled it over...wow..that was AWESOME!!!)

Our cake is going to be chocolate w/ white chocolate mousse on the bottom; orange cake w/orange mousse in the middle, and yellow cake with butter cream frosting on the top layer.

The orange and lemon cakes were both awesome! I heartily recommend them to anyone who likes citrus cake type desserts!

If we could have done a fourth layer it most likely would have been chocolate with baileys mousse.

My top layer was almond cake with amaretto filling for DH and the bottom layer was Chocolate with Peanut Butter filling for me because I'm a chocolate and peanut butter FREAK! They were both very good, but I actually enjoyed the almond cake better. :confused3

Hmmmmm we are doing the same thing only in reverse:

Top Chocolate with PBCup Mousse
Bottom Almond with Amaretto Mousse

Now I love chocolate and I love peanut butter, but listening to you Wendy, I'm beginning to have doubts about this. What was it that you preferred about the almond cake (which was fantastic!) Before we changed to Escape from wishes, we had our PS and got to taste cakes. So I know what each cake tastes like.

Don't worry, Lisa - the PB Cup mousse is better than the PB mousse. The chocolate mousse cuts some of the tangy weirdness of the peanut butter mousse. (It tastes like peanut butter flavored cream cheese to me....)

If I get a re-creation of our cake for our anniversary, I'll definitely pick PB Cup mousse over PB mousse - and I'm a peanut butter freak! :thumbsup2

OOhh what is a butter cream frosting???That sounds full of calories so must be tasty!!

Buttercream frosting is the white frosting they put on the outside of most Escape cakes and under the fondant on Wishes cakes. You can get it as a filling too!

Where do you find out about choices like that?? My planning sheets have very basic flavors. :headache:

That sounds perfect Carrie! Thanks for the clarification on the difference. You rock!
