I am planning on going to a Disney wedding and am looking for what to do as far as gift and support. I've never done a destination wedding and what to do thing. Any tips.suggestions?

Hi! You are going to have SO much fun—Disney weddings are a blast!

1) One thing that can be hugely helpful for the bride and groom who are having a destination wedding is to have their gift mailed to their home so they don't have to carry it back on the plane. If you're not sure where they are registered, look on their wedding website or talk to the mother of the bride or maid of honor.

2) For a Disney wedding, you will save the bride a LOT of stress if you RSVP as soon as you know whether or not you can go. Likewise, if you are asked for a meal choice, be sure it is clearly communicated.

3) If the couple has set up a room block at the Disney resorts, it is helpful to send the bride your Disney hotel confirmation number—especially if you are staying in a Disney resort than is NOT in the couple's room block.

4) If the bride has mailed or emailed you any newsletters, be sure to read through them. Sometimes guests skip this and miss out on a lot of important information that could make the trip go much more smoothly.

5) If the couple has arranged transportation to the wedding, be sure you know when and where it will pick you up so that you don't miss the ceremony and/or reception.

I know this may sound like a lot to remember, but believe me—doing this stuff is THE best gift you can give the bride, and she will love you forever! :rotfl:

Carrie said it best! If they are registered for some sort of honeymoon registry I would definitely stick to that because they may need the extra cash to do some of the stuff they want to on their honeymoon.

Everything else carrie said are the best tips!

The best gift I received from my Disney Wedding guest was they taped my ceremony.

It was a young boy that taped it on his cell phone, so it wasn't the best quality. But we opted not to have a videographer to offset expenses. So his taping was the only video we have.

When I found out that he taped the whole ceremony on his cell phone, it was priceless!

I only wish someone would have taped our first dance...

Another wonderful gift we received was a DVD of photos and video that my uncle took of the day.

Both are so priceless to the bride and groom, and doesn't really cost much to the guest.

Update:

I JUST got the invitation, so I will be RSVP-ing ASAP. It looks as though I will be the only one attending as my wife will be at work. I'll probably bring my DD (2) and mother in law for baby sitting purposes.....that and she LOVES Disney as much as we do. My wife will join us for a weekend get away at least....so Friday-Sunday.

Now I just have to decide on where to stay.... unfortunately it during peak fall season. I'll have to look more into it now that we have a AP which I assume will get me a better discount. Can this be used for the "wedding party?" I just want to make sure the bride's room count is covered.

Yes, I would book your room and then I've the confirmation #, that way the bride can add your reservation to the group and get credit for your room :) fun!

i think you (or a TA) would need to call disney and see if the bridal/wedding room block OR your AP discount gives you the best price. either way, as others have noted, giving the wedding party your room res. # will get you added to the room block (not further changing your cost in any way) but helps the wedding party fulfill their room obligation (even if you don’t stay in a recommended hotel).
