My understanding is that codes (when and if they do come) can only be applied to CRO room only ressies.

I made a ressie (room only) through Disneyworld.com, with payment terms of 1 night now and balance upon checkout. However, my reservation number is only 8 digits long (which I thought was WDTC)

LOL so help. Do I have a CRO room ressie or not? If not, do I need to cancel and rebook to make sure that codes can be applied? Thanks in advance for your help

I am sorry if this sounds silly but if I call the Disney Club toll free phone number to make my reservations using a code is that through CRO or WDTC? If it is WDTC what number would I have to call to book it through CRO? I went last year and booked through CRO but it was a special e-mail code I received.

frankiemom -- if you call the Disney Club toll free number it is WDTC. I made reservations a few days ago using that number and when I asked if I could switch to a code rate if/when they come out I was told I could. She said they would have to switch me into the CRO computer but that it could be done through the toll free number. I'm thinking that they will pobably cancel the one reservation and do a new one but I'm not sure. I hope I can find out soon. :D

jenniferhouston1 -- I can't really help you as mine was made over the phone (see above) but my Client File # is 8 numbers long with payment due by April 24 so I would say you have a WDTC reservation but according to WDTC when I made my reservation codes can be applied at a later date.

I made a WDTC res with Disney Club last year for CBR. When the codes came out, I called and they cancelled the original reservation and booked a code reservation through CRO. They credited the original deposit and charged the new one.

If I remember right, when you use the Disney Club discount you have to book a package, even when you just want a room only. Several times I tried using the Disney Club discount for a room only but they added admission to Disney's Wide World of Sports. It was still worth the savings. But then I think I had to go through WDTC versus CRO because they must book packages.

I called last Friday and booked on the 800 number using the DC discount. I asked what the reservation policy was and this is what I was told.

100.00 deposit
Balance due by April 26
Cancellation can be made 5 days before arriving for a full refund.

Personally I thought you could only cancel with CRO in the 5 day period and 45 days for the WDTC.

I know this seems strange, but I wrote everything down and asked the CM again what the cancellation policy was and she said 5 days. Maybe she was just confused?

This discussion is all very interesting but I am still confused....

I have looked at many booking options for a June '03 trip and found that booking a basic DreamMaker package (via WDTC) at a DVC which includes UPH tickets and some added stuff actually comes out cheaper than going thru CRO and reserving the rack rate at the DVC and buying UPH tickets seperately ($2346 vs $2358). The real issue for me is whether discount codes, AAA or any other discount can be applied to either (DreamMaker or CRO reservations) Either at the time or after the fact?

Your e-mail thread implies that the answer is yes - if you get the right person on the phone!

I also need to know if ....

1.) Can I get the AAA discount on either a room booked seperately or vacation package if I make the reservation myself. Or does it have to be made via a AAA travel agent?

2.) Will Disney apply room code discounts to a DreamMaker package or only to CRO-booked, room-only reservations?

3.) Will they (WDTC, CRO) give you an Annual Pass discount on a DreamMaker package? Or only on separately arranged lodging?

4.) What is the usual % off in early June? (I have calculated that a 12% discount is the break even point for the trip I am planning.)

5.) Are these discounts additive? I.e Does Disney allow one to receive the AAA, the room code and the AP savings all on the same reservation?

Does anyone REALLY know? I could really use some expert advise from the Disney vets out there!

If you book through CRO it's one night's deposit, balance due at check-in, 5 day cancellation policy.

If you book through DC, it goes through WDTC and is 100.00 deposit, balance due 21 days out, 5 day cancellation policy, but any changes after balance is paid is 10.00.

If you book through WDTC it's 200.00 deposit, balance due 45 days out, cancellations 6 to 45 days out result in 100.00 fee, cancellation 5 days or less is 200.00 fee, and any change after final payment has 50.00 fee.
~:D~

I made a ressie (room only) through Disneyworld.com,
I'm not positive, but I think I read somewhere that if you make you reservation online you go through WDTC and therefore have to follow their payment & cancellation policies (not CRO). Someone correct me if I'm wrong. ~:D~

Yes you can

Room only reservations if the discount is just for the room. Packages are sometimes discounted but you would need to have the package discount code (a 4 letter code) to do it. No discounts of any kind are automatically applied to any reservation. You have to call and ask. Just because room discounts come out does not mean package prices will be lowered accordingly.

Having an AP/PAP does not entitle you to a package discount.

Percent off what? If you mean rooms and/or packages, there's just no way of knowing. Sometimes it can be as high as 35-40%. Other times 20%. Still other times have no discounts at all. It all depends on what Disney decides to release based on their projected occupancy for that particular period.

5.) Are these discounts additive? I.e Does Disney allow one to receive the AAA, the room code and the AP savings all on the same reservation?
You may wish that they allowed it but they do not. Sorry.

Seems like no one is getting the same story twice! Not a surprising thing, but it is frustrating.

I just made reservations this past Tuesday using a DC discount, calling the toll free number. I was told the following regarding deposits and refunds.
1) Deposit of $100 due within 10 days
2) Paid in full within 21 days of arrival
3) Cancel within 21 days for a full refund, no charge for changes in reservations, within 10 days $10 for any changes or cancellations, within 5 days $100 charge for any changes or cancellations.

First of all, thanks to all who have responded.

With at least two versions of the truth from experts on this board, no wonder why the average vacation planner is so confused.

I just wonder why Disney maintains seperate WDTC and CROs with seperate rules and procedures. Not sure how it profits them.

Thanks again. Jennifer

The above statement makes it sound like if you try to cancel or change after 21 days out, your out the big bucks! But actually, you're just out the 10.00 up to the 5 day out point, and then it's the same as CRO's policy. ~:D~

DC reservations are definitely more liberal than regular WDTC rules. However, just to throw another twist in it, I asked about CRO reservations. According to the CM I spoke to, CRO has now gone to the 45 day rule for paying in full with a 1 night room deposit due within 10 days of making the reservation. I didn't ask about their penalties for cancellations.

Since I was reserving a 2 br villa at OKW, I was definitely happier paying the $100 deposit rather than a 1 nights stay! We're hoping for AP discounts, but I'm not sure if those ever come out for villas.

Here was my call today,

CM told me I had to pay 21 days from my trip. I have a 6 day cancellation. I left a one night deposit. They only thing I have right now is a AAA discount.

I told him I was a passholder and said I could just apply the rate when it came out.

That's the first I've seen of 21 days before for payment.

Anyone else get that one?
