Website issues

Thankfully I'm not looking to book Jambo anytime soon but I would be pretty pissed if this happened to me.

As of right now I'm getting 7 dwarves when going to the booking page, is this happening to anyone else currently?

Edit: weird, I guess it's related to my adblocker being on
Thanks for the pointer! I've been having this issue for days on Chrome and had to use Edge to search for availability. I've 2 adblocker extensions working on Chrome and I've localized it to the uBlock Origin Lite - turned on...7 dwarves; turned off...no issues.

Same with me, uBlock is breaking the DVC site right now. I find that the blockers built in to the Brave browser don't tend to break as many sites as uBlock. Maybe give Brave a try.

Yeah I was like I know Disney IT is bad but they shouldn't be THIS bad where the website is down for days at a time.

Same. I’m certain that IT knows it’s broken and it seems like it should be a high priority item, so I’m curious what’s going on. Saying disable ad blockers is easy for tech savvier people, but there’s a large portion of DVC owners that can barely use an iPhone, let alone navigate to and disable a setting or extension. Has any site functionality changed or maybe it is just server side?

If they have enough technical knowledge to install a browser extension, they should have enough technical knowledge to know how to disable it.

My guess is there are probably trackers on the site that DVC uses for a/b testing, analytics, etc., that uBlock block and that throws an error on DVC's server that just puts up the dwarves instead of gracefully failing.

Unless their kid installs it for them, or it came packaged in the browser.

I’ve tried three different ad blockers and they all fubar the booking page.

Brave works fine for me on the DVC site using the built-in blocker. I haven't tried other browsers like Vivaldi or Opera that build in blockers; but nobody should use those anyway.

I can't help you if your kids mess with your computers without telling you what they're doing. That's why one of the first troubleshooting steps is to try an incognito/private browsing session. That will disable all extensions and not save any history or cookies or cache for that session, so there is no chance of a client-side issue.

People who leave IT up to their kids, most of the time, should use Chromebooks or iPads and not real computers.

There has been a change to the new booking page recently. I haven't read closely enough to see if people w/Adblockers are having troubles with modifications or with new bookings or both. The new booking page's coding has changed for me (to go along with button styles and slight modification to colors). I suspect you are correct that there is something in that new code that is being blocked making the site unusable w/an Adblocker.

They are doing a lot of things to the site this year. I've noticed buttons moving, flows changing, random MFA code prompts - things that a human wouldn't even notice or would notice but wouldn't think twice about, but would confound simple autoclick bots like we speculate the DVC commercial renters are using.

The easiest thing for folks who use uBlock to do is simply disable the extension for Disney's site. Disney's sites don't run advertisements anyway so the only thing you're blocking is the trackers and other code that is breaking things.

Oh I agree with you, but I’m saying many original DVC owners are pushing 70-80. It took an entire day to teach my father in law to iMessage, and now 80% of the messages we get from him are emoji. iPad is probably being too generous, but Jitterbug doesn’t make a tablet yet.

On the U.S part of the site they have trackers and Recorders. They record anything you click on, and any action you take.

I tend to block those calls when I visit, and the website works fine without it.
