Web Slingers is moving to a standby queue

ok so rise went from virtual queue at wdw to standy on october 6th, their Genie plus debuted October 19th

I thought it went stand by earlier than that. Maybe they announced it in Sept it didn't happen until October.

that 2 weeks is pretty much what i figured would happen at DLR...right around the official start of xmas stuff at the resort (the 12th? is that right?) we'll get Genie+

I think RotR went standby at WDW Sept 23 and genie was released Oct. 19. So almost a month. I can't see DL waiting another month to release genie but who even knows. I wish they'd just announce a date already.
yep, youre right...sep 23rd sorry im wrong

This could be a good change for people who want to ride it multiple times in a day. I hope they add single rider but they will need to figure out a way to split up the pre-show room.

The frustrating thing about Disney is that they make changes like this with no warning. I had booked a couple reservations in January with DCA start specifically because I wanted to get a Boarding Pass at the 7AM drop. If I had known before I made the reservations that there would be a regular line rather than virtual queue, I would have done Disneyland start to do Rise of the Resistance 7AM boarding groups. Now, Disneyland reservations are full for that day.

I know that this is probably a niche case but it shows Disneyland's lack of respect for guests. People are expected to make park reservations far in advance with no knowledge of the entertainment offerings or even what systems will be used for lining up for rides. These things could dramatically affect a person's experience in the park.

Well that's annoying. We picked DCA as our starting park for two of our Dapper Day weekend days because my kids wanted to ride that more than ROTR (since we've already done ROTR 8 times but Webslingers only 2). Now we've lost two ROTR virtual queue opportunities and gotten nothing in return (and I can't switch now because all of the Magic Key availability that was there yesterday for that weekend is gone again).

Whatever the reason, I much prefer having a standby queue over the boarding groups. This way I can decide to ride or not base dont eh wait times. ROTR at WDW hasn't been all that bad (not 6 hours like some were predicting - pre-Genie anyway). There is also the option to rope drop it.

I'm guessing this is a response to complaints that Disney is upsellling a $65 toy for use on the ride and then people who buy it can't just ride when they want.

Ugh!!! Not sure how I feel. It’ll be great is the line isn’t absolutely ridiculous otherwise not so much. Sound like genie+ here we come. A 3 year old that has to ride it isn’t going to wait in that huge line so I guess we’re going to be doing genie+

The wait will likely hover between 60 and 90 minutes most of the time.
We had to wait around half an hour in line both times we were able to get a boarding group. I would happily have waited 60 to have avoided stress of having to try to get the boarding group (which we failed at the first time we tried).

I wish ROTR would go to standby like WDW because we failed getting that multiple times and the one time we were able to get it we had to wait in line an hour and 15 minutes for the ride. I would happily wait in a standby line 60-90 minutes to avoid the major stress that one caused me.

It kind of doesn't make sense to use single riders due to the "team" aspect of the ride and the closeness of the seats. I think smaller groups would feel awkward having someone else so close flailing their arms all around. I feel like there would be potential for accidentally hitting a stranger.
My daughter and I rode next to another group of 2. Not awkward at all. It was first time for all of us so we didn’t know what to expect or how to work together, but they we a nice couple and we had fun.

One of the things about boarding groups is that some people just do the ride because it's what they're "supposed to do". On a couple of occasions, I got a boarding group for Rise around noontime and when I see the line, it's clear that it's going to take an hour. At that point, I sometimes want to just dump the boarding group but then I figure I'm already in Galaxy's Edge which is a long walk from other stuff so I might as well go on it. If I didn't have the boarding group and saw in the app that the wait was 60+, there's no way I would have even walked over to that part of the park. At the same time, there were people who would have wanted to ride it but couldn't get a boarding pass.

I think standby lines are more fair although there are definitely days when I appreciate getting on Web Slingers later in the day without waiting too long.

If I remember correctly, WebSlingers will be ILL$. So you won't have to buy G+, just the ILL for that ride.

Yes, this was a consideration for me. I am definitely enamored with the Iron Man blaster thing, but I was thinking, I want to ride it first, then ge the power-up and try again to see the difference. Now, at least theoretically, I could do that. Honestly, standby for RotR at WDW has gone well I think, though I only experienced that pre-Genie.

In the WEB first lobby now. We made a mistake and rope dropped at Buena Vista street. While we were pretty close to the front of the crowd, but got behind a LOT of people who came from the other side. 20 minutes until entering the building.

Can you tell me, where is the other side exactly? Is it better to line up there? Thanks - enjoy the ride!
