Temperatures Rebound To Summer-Like Heat
Forecast Calls For Temperatures Around 80 Degrees

LOS ANGELES -- Warmer temperatures pushed December's wet and cold weather out of the Southland Friday.
Similar conditions are expected during the weekend.
Temperatures in parts of the Southland Friday flirted with record high levels.
The predicted high of 83 at the NWS recording station at the University of Southern California was 4 degrees under the record for this date set in 1950, said NWS meteorological technician Bill Hoffer. It was 80 as of 1 p.m.
The expected high at Los Angeles International Airport was 78, Hoffer said. The record for this date, set in 1958, is 87. By 1 p.m., it was 73 at LAX.
The temperature in Woodland Hills was expected to reach 87, 2 degrees under the record set on Dec. 10, 1950, according to the NWS.
Here are some other 1 p.m. temperatures: Santa Monica, 75; Long Beach, 80; Fullerton, 84; Burbank, 81; Claremont, 83; Wrightwood, 59; Big Bear City, 66; Palm Springs, 73.
Expect overnight lows in the 50s. Saturday should mark another clear, warm day as temperatures stay in the upper 70s. clear. Sunday's forecast includes clear skies and temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s.
The offshore flow brought a different type of heat than that of summer, which is affected by high pressure and the proximity of the sun.
Friday's offshore flow moved warm air at the surface around. Areas not affected by offshore winds -- the high desert and inland areas -- will not not see temperaters as warm as communities in the L.A. basin and locations along the shore.
