Hello -
We are leaving this Sunday for WDW and are busy getting packed! Can anyone tell me what the weather at WDW is like right now, specifically how's the humidity? In CA it gets hot but there's no humidity to compare it to. What should we pack clothes-wise? I'm trying to explain it to my girls but the weather has actually cooled here and it's harder to pack when the weather at home is "cooler" than your destination!

Thanks!

It should be pretty warm in Orlando now but not really hot or humid yet. But I am the wrong person to ask, was raised in south Louisiana and the humidity doesn't bother me all that much. We usually bring one sweatshirt or light weight jacket in case the a/c is too much at times. Otherwise, shorts and t-shirts should be fine. We are taking forever to warm up up here. I hate these SHORT summers!!

I would think shorts and short sleeve shirts. Maybe a very light jacket, but I highly doubt you'll use it. Have fun!

I'm at WDW right now. It's been shorts and t-shirts all week. It does cool off a little a night but not enough for a jacket, in my opinion. It has been warm but not humid. I have the news on now, it's 86 with 41% humidity.

whatever you pack youl forget the thing you nead the most DW always take a small umbrella but always forget to take it to the parks

PACKING TIP:

Mid May to end of May is the start of the Central FL rainy season.
Start thinking rain gear. Don't forget the Ponchos, but they don't always keep you dry.
Think rains suits as they are inexpensive, roll up to a small pouch. You can get them at Golf Shops, Sporting stores, Fishing Stores or K & Wal-Mart.

For my kids I always pack those pants that zip off into shorts. You can have the longs pants for mornings and evenings and shorts for the heat of the day. The zip off pieces take up very little room in the back pack or fanny pack. DDs go from pants to capris to shorts and she just loves them. They are that nylon track-pant material, so they dry quickly, too.

Have fun,
Laurie

You won't need long pants in the mornings anymore. It's really starting to warm up. The humidity will start picking up within the next week or so. Definitely pack some rain gear, better safe than sorry (we've had a couple of threatening days this week due to some stalled fronts moving through the state). You can throw in a pair of long pants but you'll definitely be wearing shorts most of the time now.

I would take pants for night time because I'm a wimpy South Floridian so when a breeze blows below 80, I get chilly...so it's all relative:tongue:

HAVE A GREAT TIME!!

Thanks for everyone's tips on what to pack; I've been keeping an eye on the weather and they are predicting t.s. sometime during the week so cross our fingers it'll change! But at least we'll be prepared - and in WDW rain or not! :teleport:

WELL, it has been hot during the day. I live about 45 minutes south of WDW and today it's cool, not cold but I wouldn't be hot in pants. Of course I wouldn't be cold in shorts either. I would bring a jacket and maybe a pair of light pants if you can fit them in your bag (jogging kind maybe) for the night shows, etc. It was pretty cool here two nights ago...

Just back yesterday. Had two days in mid '80s and humid, two days low '80s and not humid (all four of these days very sunny) and one day of low '80s and rain. On the low '80s days it cooled down to the low '60s in the evenings before the parks closed and I was cold in shorts and a short-sleeved shirt (was also cool in mornings until about 9). Would have been too hot in pants all day, but wished I had a light sweater or jacket when staying for the nightime festivities.

Suggest you keep checking accuweather.com. It was pretty accurate on temps for our visit.

Keep in mind that from May through August, they predict thunderstorms every day in central Florida (it's like predicting partly cloudy in San Diego). There's a good chance it'll rain nearly every day (although, much more likely in June and July than now)- but it'll be fast and furious. Bring a poncho to the parks and put it in a locker. Chances are, you'll welcome a quick cooling shower as a (short) relief fromthe heat. Of course, the humidity will then climb. Speaking of humidity, it shouldn't be that bad now, but even so (we're from Ohio and often go to FL in July), I find that you more or less adjust to the humidity in a couple of days.
