We are headed there next weekend/week and it shows thunderstorms the whole time. However I noticed that the next 15 days show the same thing. Do they just list thunderstorms everyday as there is always a chance of one? Is June just hit or miss with storms? Thanks.

We've been there this time of year and didn't have any rain. So, I think it's hit or miss. The storms may be only 5 minutes in the afternoon or on and off all day. Don't stress about it, grab some ponchos and have fun.

I have gotten to where I don't even look at the forecast anymore, because it always upsets me. More often than not, I have found the weather to be not as bad as the forecast sounded. We often see a typical Florida shower here and there. In 6 years, we had maybe 2 or 3 days where it rained us out for the day during our vacation. We were also there during Hurricane Irma. After the hurricane had passed we had really nice weather the rest of the week. Good luck.

It's usually off and on scattered showers. We have experienced all day rain, but that was in January and September. At least this time of year, you should be able to go out in a poncho and be fine. In the winter, it's just too cold, IMO, to do that when it's raining.

Here's a post I made on a similar thread last week about some things we enjoy doing on washout days. This post was for a couples only trip, but I'll add a few things if you're bringing kids.

Rainy Day things:
* Check out the Rainy Day Calvalcade at Magic Kingdom (if they cancel Festival of Fantasy due to the weather) Also there's a lot of attractions at MK indoors.
* Go to Disney Springs Goofy's Candy store and make your own Mickey rice krispie or marshmallow snack
* Go to Disney Springs to the Lego store
* If adults only, tour the Monorail resorts and go on a unofficial lounge hop, sampling some great apps and drinks (CR- CA Grill Lounge, Wave Lounge, Outer Rim Lounge. Poly- Tambu Lounge and Trader Sams. GF- Mizner's Lounge and Citricos Lounge) Or, if family trip, do the same hop, but make it a Monorail Resorts treats hop! Cupcakes at CR, Dole Whip at Poly, and something extravagant at GF!
* If you're into reading, perhaps relax by the giant fireplace at Wilderness Lodge with a good book
* Epcot Future World is a great park on rainy days due to so many indoor attractions. Despite this, it's our experience that it is still practically empty on rainy days.
* If the budget allows, make a trip to GFs Senses Spa.
* Go to Port Orleans Riverside and enjoy Yeehaw Bob's show at the River Roost Lounge (I believe kids are allowed at this, but be sure to double check!)
* Attend the Hoop Dee Doo Revue
* When we took kids and stayed at BLT, they had a craft/activity room that the kids loved! Most of the stuff, including make your own bead necklace, was free.

I hope it all works out! It's disappointing when the weather doesn't cooperate, but try to remember you're on vacation and brainstorm other things to do that perhaps you've never even done before.

There is another thread discussing this. Apparently there is a bad storm system that is just going to sit over FL for a week. Sounds pretty bad, I would start making plans for what to do, heavy ponchos..although if it is bearable, parks tend to empty when it rains, you could get onto a lot of rides with minimal wait.

Another curious weather questions. I'll be there next week and will just be happy to be there. Under what conditions do they cancel Happily Ever After and how will I know if it has been cancelled? Thanks!!!

They won't cancel it. It can be delayed due to weather but highly unlikely they'll cancel it.

It can be delayed 5 min or it came be delayed an hour or 2

We count on a little rain to clear out the crowds but last late August was just wow. I got stuck at the riverside mill during a downpour and ate a cheesecake and two sodas before it was done. Only had on my t shirt and were in building 24. Wife thought I left her.

Thanks everyone. We are pass holders so I'm not so much worried about the parks but I wanted to do more pool time this trip. I'll keep an eye out on this tropical storm. Thanks again for all the response.

While rain the whole trip can get old. Make the best of it. My 11 year old and I have great memories from our last 2 trips when my husband and 8 year old went back to the resort because of the rain and we put on ponchos and rode roller coasters in the rain. This last trip was last month and it rained hard for about 10 minutes in the afternoon, MK cleared out and we rode BTMR walk on 3 times in a row then hit up 7DMT and rode twice with a 10-15 min wait and then twice on space mountain all in about an hours time and it was barely sprinkling.

I live in Florida. This is not your normal weather. There’s a tropical depression in the gulf which is why we have all this rain coming to us.
Can you please give us a local's updated perspective on this storm? We're supposed to go Friday - Tues am but we do have the option of rescheduling. I'm thankful for that! But if it's really not going to be that bad, would rather not reschedule. TIA!!

From a local - it's not actually a storm, rather a disturbance that has very little chance to develop into a depression or storm. That being said, it does have a weak circulation, which means that it will bring moisture in bands over Florida in a southwest to northeast type pattern. The weather people have not had a good record so far of predicting the results - said no rain on Saturday and it rained for about 3-4 hours at least starting around 10:00 am. Sunday was going to be rain, but it didn't really start until later in the afternoon. Monday it rained in the morning but stopped around 2:00. Hasn't yet rained today, but there are storms moving in the western side of the state right now. If it stays put, this is the pattern for the next few days, though it is slowly moving north. There is some dry air hitting it from the west and wind shear higher in the atmosphere knocking it down and hurting it from forming into a coherent storm. It is hard to predict the future on these, and it really is going to be hit or miss for much of it. The way the rain moves in, it could totally miss Disney and pour in Orlando, or rain at AK but not DHS and Epcot, or totally wash out the parks for half a day or more. Again, hasn't rained here yet today.....

Thank you. So if you had the option of rescheduling, fully knowing rain is always possible and probable, would you reschedule?

Only you can answer that - you could reschedule for summer and have thunderstorms everyday, or reschedule for September and get a tropical storm/hurricane, or January and get unseasonable cold weather. It depends on what you want to get out of it, your family wishes and expectations, and everyones level of patience. It might rain alot this week, or it might not. You might be able to get a lot of pool time in, or it might be indoor activities with no TT, or 7DMT BTM Splash, or EE for several days in a row. No one can tell you how its going to play out.

Either way, hope you have a great vacation.

i hope you were wearing some pants at least too :rotfl2: I had to read that twice

It's Florida. There could be a thunderstorm over MK while it is sunny at Epcot.

If I had to reschedule because it might rain in Florida, I'd never go. No, I wouldn't reschedule because it might rain. It could rain on your new dates, too. Just be prepared for what to do if it rains.
