Well 2 more days then we are off to the land of the mouse :cool1:we can't wait, but have just checked out the weather and it seems non stop rain:sad1:..if this is the case what should i pack clotheswise for me and the kids..and please help it not to be non stop rain..i dont think i could cope after our summer????

i have bought a couple of the ones from Asda, but i was thinking do i need more heavier stuff than summer pants/dresses?

We got back yesterday and did have a lot of rain but it was hot too. Take a poncho or buy one there and make sure your shorts/skirt etc are short enough so the bottom of them wont get wet.

Think about footwear-I love my crocs flipflops but they were slippery to walk in when wet.

If it does rain stay out, we had animal kingdom virtually to ourselves one afternoon as everyone else went home !

Have a great time !

got back today, firstly its not non stop rain, sure we had a few good downpours but most of them were late afternoon or evening, but its hot, very hot in fact, average temp of 90+ and humidity of around a 100 and never less than 70 through the nite, I took 7 pairs of shorts and 7 T shirts and me crocs and had a fantastic time at POFQ

You will get storms most afternoons. It will be hot. Its Florida! :goodvibes

You will not need long sleves :thumbsup2

Go have fun :goodvibes

seriously you will get rain every day, its the wet season. plan your day for it.usaly its at the same time every day. Its not the norm for it to rain all day at this time of year
The cold air from the Atlantic meets the warm from the gulf over the warm ground and bang you get the afternoon thunderstorms. Most times there gone within an hour
We would go and get ready for the evening when there this year it was unusually dry and only had 1+1/2 day of constant rain rest of time was unusually dry
If there is a storm forecast ( as Irene is this weekend forecast a cat 3 Hurricane) it can do 2 things
1 Make a lot of rain
2 take rain away with it and make it dry
( me think its going to be option 2 but hay never get those 6 numbers at all)
Best not to worry and plan around and not just to get holed up in room and wait
Paul

Yep same dilemma , we are off in the morning just settling into the travel lodge at Gatwick for the night can't wait so excited !
Don't worry it won't rain all the time but as most people have said stormy most afternoons/eve's is the norm, it will be hot too ! Could of been lots worse if Irene would of hit but hopefully looks like it going to totally miss Florida .

See you all soon.

When we were in London last month one of the guides at Windsor Castle was complaining about the heat, and it wasn't quite 70F. ahem.

Prepare for a sauna!

Thanks everyone,i have my ponchos..good advice about the shoes and the skirts and i will leave the trousers behind :thumbsup2

think the worst thing that Irene will do is make your flight bumpy with lost of turbulence ,would be more worried about that that any rain out there
Paul

Take an umbrella - shade when it's hot, protection from the 2pm downpour you will experience most days.

A couple of cardigans/light jackets - aircon will be cranked to the max in all restaurants.

The flight should be okay; I've flown in and out of Florida around a number of tropical storms/hurricans, they'll simply avoid it as much as they can. It'll be a bit more bouncy than usual but nothing to worry about.

If you wind up in the storm, OLD trainers. I spent three days in a tropical storm a few years back - had basically 3-4 days worth of clothes on me and EVERYTHING was wet, despite the poncho. I managed to save one outfit for the plane journey home which was dry but it all stank by the time I got home. My shoes were the worst - I binned them at the airport.

if the wind or the rain don't hit what about an earthquake? (only kidding don't think it was felt in Florida)
Paul

We have been here for 2 weeks now and there hasn't been that much rain, it is very hot all day and then every few days it rains late afternoon or early evening. :goodvibes
