Weather Not Looking So Great Over Next Week

This system may become a tropical storm (Nicole) today, and it will probably have some effect on WDW and definitely VB today and tonight. By Thursday afternoon, it is expected to be around the NC-SC border, so HHI will also experience a little effect.

Most of the "weather" in this system is in the NE quadrant of the storm with the strongest winds actually being more than 100 miles NE of the center, and that portion is likely to remain offshore as the storm passes through. WDW will be on the "soft" side of the system and should receive only minimal effect -- in fact, it may not even be noticeable as a "storm."

Gonna be a windy, rainy day but it's business as usual here in South Florida today. The schools are open and everything is proceeding normally.

It is certainly nice having our own private meteorologist here on the DIS! :lovestruc

Well, hopefully my flight will still be going. I leave 5 hours from now!

Have a great trip! Thanks Jim!

Naw...just an average Miami guy.

We HAVE to know this stuff down here, because we deal with these systems six months every year. We learn pretty quickly which sources of information are legitimate and reliable, and which systems are a big deal and which aren't.

We leave this Friday. Weather doesn't look that bad. Lots of isolated storms. Hoping for the the best!:goodvibes We're running Saturday night in the 1/2, so really hoping no rain that evening. Still time for the weather to change. Hopefully the hurricane will not be an issue.

Good luck - my wife is a runner, and did the Disney Princess 1/2 the first time it was setup (2 yrs ago?). She wanted to do this one, but we planned our vacation a little late (mid-Oct). She may want to do this one next year!

Have a blast!

Yeah, but Jim, you take out the hype and sensationalism. I'd like a "just the facts ma'am" report and it's hard to find that, especially on TV. You're right, nature is to be respected and knowledge is power, but it's nice to know when to take action and when to relax and just not worry.

So thanks for that. :cheer2:

We are leaving today and are driving down. We were going to go to Myrtle Beach on Thusday, but I believe that is not going to happen. I think we are stying on the western side of Va and NC today (Wed) and hoping for better weather tomorrow. I think we are going to stay in Asheville on thurs. We arrive in HH on Fri so by then it should be better. Onto Disney on Sunday and it seems to be looking good for the week. Wish me luck on my drive down.

We have torrential rain in the UK at the moment, warm rain would be an improvement! We don't leave for SSR for 3 weeks so hoping for that wonderful warm, low humidity sunshine Florida gets end of Oct!

The tropical depression and the front behind finally broke the heat! Beautiful, cooler week-end and a glorious morning, 73 at 7am w/ an expected high of 85 in S. Florida. Orlando must be just a little cooler, I wish I was there! It's too early for the cooler weather to stay, but enjoy it while it lasts! This makes me even more anxious for Nov. to get here!

The 10 Day Forecast is absolutely beautiful so far. Hope it doesn't change; I'll be there Sunday for a week.:banana:

Sounds wonderful!!!

We check into AKV on Saturday and then DCL on Sunday:cool1:

No TS or Depressions in sight!! We really lucked out with the weather and I hope it stays that way!:wizard:

Don't you just love that first morning when you walk outside and notice a real change in the weather?

Who knows, we might actually get a cold front in a few weeks!

If we could skip any real cold fronts I'd appreciate it - at least for the next couple of weeks. Our last trip home was in January of this past year - Marathon weekend. We survived temps that didn't get much above 50 and one morning of freezing rain (~30 degrees and raining) and another morning of sub 30 degree weather. We still had a great time - and we'll always remember my parents' first trip to Disney when they brought the Northeastern cold with them - but we're looking forward to a warm visit next week.

Well this is too good to be true. No humidity and mild temps. We are here at BWV for the next 8 glorious days. We were a part of the frigid 2010 Feb. freeze and I can't overstate how much more enjoyable it is to walk World Showcase when you are not shivering! I could care less if we get on a single ride all week. I am just so happy to be here with DH and in the perfect weather! :goodvibes

The weather here at OKW is near perfect. Low to Mid-80s high, low to mid 60s low, no humidity and no rain in forecast. And the love bug infestation is coming to an end!

can I request it for the end of October. Nothing severe just enough to feel like fall at the Halloween Party and possibly even be jacket weather. :thumbsup2
