Anybody know what the weather is normally like in October in DL? Will it be too cold to swim at the hotel?

October weather is typically quite nice, around 80 degrees for the high. It'll probably drop to around 60 degrees by midnight when the park closes. Whether or not that's swimming weather is a matter of preference. In October it starts getting dark around 6pm and is completely dark by about 7pm.

It now looks like a La Nina condition is starting to redevelop, what was showing to be a HOT Santa Ana conditions might turn into a nice fall. Let's all hope this La Nina develops.

See for yourself: "Detailed Weather History for DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=23004158

It looks like jason above offered an anecdotal response and his experience agrees well with the data I collected in my link above. :thumbsup2

October Average Hi/Lo: 80.6/57.5 F (27.2/14.3 C)

I find October weather in SO Cal crazy! One year we went and it had to have been over 100 degrees, the next year we went at the same time and it rained the whole time we were there. Same thing in December! It was beautiful and warm one year and cold and miseralbe the next!

Yup. I completely agree with the pp. The weather out here in October is fairly unpredictable. Don't mean to offend anyone, however it's a month that is hard to generalize. We won't get snow or it won't be terribly cold, but it can be really hot or rainy. I'm hoping for rain, because we really need it. Weather in October can be completely different than the previous year.

Great! We went one year in Oct and it rained the whole time... I just wanted to see what others had experienced! Thanks for the info!

hey hey hey, cold does not necessarily have to be followed by miserable:laughing:
I wish it would rain and be cold more often here in So. Cal. I LOVE it.

So shorts or capris and take a light jacket just in case? 80 will be smoking hot for us if it gets up that. We're only hitting the low 70's if we're lucky now.

Last year I remember it was quite warm. You can for sure swim. We didn't bring enough shorts, for some reason I didn't think it was going to be that warm!

I agree 100% with the PP's who said that October is unpredictable in SoCal. And early October can be a 180-degree difference from LATE October! I also agree that I wish it were COLD! I am sick of heat here in L.A. I want a nice cold snap! October can range anywhere from high temperatures close to 100 degrees (and I will die if that is what it turns out to be when I go in a few weeks) to a nice mild 70 degrees! It is usually dry, very dry, so keep that in mind if you have allergies, sinus problems or asthma. Drink a lot of water. The dry and often windy weather of October is what fuels the terrible wildfires all over SoCal. If it is even remotely windy, DL won't do the fireworks at night. But, then, sometimes in the latter part of October, it could be pouring rain. I would say that you will be safe wearing Capris and a t-shirt or tank top in the daytime - maybe even shorts - and then a light jacket at night, if you get cold easily.

For me, it is not cold until December/early January, where sometimes, if we are lucky, it might drop down to 30 degrees at night! I LOVE that time of year!

I guess we've been lucky. :) We've taken 3 trips in Oct and have only had sun. We did get a ton of rain (I'm in the PNW, I know rain:laughing: ) in November one year.
