Can anyone tell me what the weather in WDW is usually like in January?
What has been your experience? Is it too cold? Is there anyone who really likes or dislikes that time of year? I would appreciate any info. Thanks in advance, Melissa

January can swing either way. We went in 2000 and you needed coats and mitts but the next year was t-shirt weather :confused3

As long as you are prepared clothes wise it is a great time to go because crowds are low.

Went went this past Jan and wore hats, gloves and winter jackets all day everyday. We lived on Hot chocolate. The week before and the week after were in the 70's.

We were there this year for 4 days, in the parks Jan. 12-15. The first two days were just perfect - warm and sunny. We had light jackets that we put in a locker until sundown.

The next two days were yucky. Friday poured with rain the entire day. I was in jeans and a sweatshirt and I wasn't cold, but it was wet. Saturday was cold, and it was misting. It got worse as the day went on so we ended up skipping IllumiNations and going back to the room. That day DS and I were in hats and gloves because our ears and fingers were freezing. I think it had more to do with being WET than actually being that cold.

The week before we got there was beautiful the whole time, but the week after we left was kind of cloudy and icky so you just never know. Pack for all possible conditions!

Use this link to get historical weather data for several years:

We went on New Years Day this year and got 10 days of the best weather ever for a Disney trip, daily highs from 75 to 85 degrees and sunny except for one 15 min spritz before returning to sun.

Hi Cruz family!
As you can tell from my signature, we have gone every January since 1999. As everyone else has said, you can have ANY type of weather in January. I have experienced waking up and it was 28 degrees ( and they closed the schools in Orlando due to the cold. Meanwhile, back home in Pittsburgh, the kids had a 2 hour delay for -30+ wind chill, so I had to chuckle at that) and we have also been there when it was in the mid-upper 80's. Honestly, we have had more nice weather than cold weather. We usually go 8-10 days, and we have never had it be cold the entire trip. A few days, but not the whole time. We went Jan 28- Feb 5th this year, and I wore capri pants, with a t shirt, and sometimes a very light weight cotton jacket. We had one day that was colder.. cloudy, windy, and it ended up raining around 5. The next 2 days after that ( our last days) it was in the upper 70's, sunny and perfect!!

I look at the colder weather we get at Disney like this.. Im from Pittsburgh. If I have to wear a sweat shirt in Dinsey all week, Id take that over the weather they are having back home in Pa!!!! It is such LOW LOW crowds in January, that its soooo great. Even if I have to wear my mickey gloves at night :)

I'm from Scotland so Winter in WDW is a bit like our Summer! :rotfl:

We were there this past Christmas/New Year's and although we had some days we needed our warmer jackets, we also had many days in shorts/t's. We even ventured to Wet 'n' Wild! ;) We went to an (almost deserted) Epcot on Jan. 1st - in jeans and t-shirts - and took lightweight jackets for the evening. Jan. 2nd was about the same in MGM.

Definately lower crowds than we had experienced on the run up to Christmas and the week between Christmas & New Years. We plan to visit in January again in a few years time! :goodvibes

Hope I don't bore you with this comment, but I'm always saying it! LOL! Pick up a few pairs of those little strechy gloves and some skull caps and keep them in your backpack. They come in handy in the evenings, if you are watching parades or just walking around the parks.

We've been twice in Jan. - once had the awesome weather, once had the freezing weather!
