I was excited to see the 2016 info up on the Disney website! We are debating whether to take our trip in February versus September. We've been in August once, and in September once. Both times were very hot, but we are fine with this. Hubby wants to go again in September.

However, I would like to go in February this time around. My husband is afraid it will be too chilly. He would rather be hot and be able to cool off, than be cold and walking around outside, carrying sweaters and jackets.

So, I'm coming to you for opinions from those who have been in February in the past. What was the weather like? We are looking at the last week of February (21'ish - 27'ish). If I'm being honest, the main reason I want to go in February is because it's sooner  . But if the weather is more pleasant, without being too cold, that would be a big plus in my book.

Feb 21 Low Average Temp.=53° High Average Temp.=75° Record Low=33° (1977) Record High=88° (1989) Ave. Rainfall=0.09"
Feb 22 53° 75° 35° (1978) 88° (2003) 0.08"
Feb 23 53° 75° 30° (1939) 88° (1962) 0.09"
Feb 24 53° 75° 29° (1911) 90° (1962) 0.09"
Feb 25 54° 75° 30° (1989) 90° (1962) 0.09"
Feb 26 54° 76° 28° (1967) 89° (1971) 0.09"
Feb 27 54° 76° 33° (1980) 89° (1962) 0.09"
Feb 28 54° 76° 29° (1935) 89° (1929) 0.09"
Feb 29 54° 76° 33° (1908) 89° (1904) 0.09"

As you can see, you can have anything from 20 degrees to 90 degrees. (Of course, the lows are going to be overnight lows when you are asleep. So add another 5-7 degrees to estimate what the daytime low will be.) I've been at WDW in February when it was 45 while waiting for the bus in the morning, and on other days when it was 85 in the afternoon. I've seen bright sunny skies, and I've seen three consecutive days of torrential rain. Bottom line, there is no way to predict.

We usually travel to Disney in late February - last four trips. The weather is pretty nice for us (we're from the Northeast). That being said, one person's interpretation of "warm" can be drastically different from anothers ;)
There were lows in low 50s (but with wind chills, it felt cooler), and highs in the 80s (less often, but still nice!)
I'm not going to make a recommendation for you one way or another, but you can look at sites like accuweather and look up historical temps and see what you most likely will be dealing with.
Good luck and enjoy your trip - whenever you decide to go!! :)

February is glorious all the way through the end of March. Take a light sweater/sweatshirt jacket. Pack jeans and shorts. The pools are heated so bring your bathing suit if you are so inclined.

We were there Feb 11-17 in 2012 and enjoyed the weather for the most part but it was sooo cold one of the days, like under 60. We had one day that was blazing hot compared to the rest of the days...around 75 degrees which obviously isn't hot but it seemed like it since the rest of the trip was in the mid-sixties. Mornings were chilly and we needed a jacket and wore jeans most days. By afternoon we were warm enough from walking around to not need our jackets. It didn't rain at all on our trip and it's a low rain season there. It was comfortable outside but not warm enough to want to go swimming and we didn't want to get very wet on rides...we did KRR and Splash but were a little hesitant. We skipped a couple of water rides at Universal. Crowds were low which was awesome but this time we're going at the end of October for a little warmer weather (70-80).

I've gone early February a couple of times - one time it was warm and sunny, another time cold and rainy. I also went in early March 2013, I was disappointed it was cold most of the week. Another time I went around that time and it was beautiful. So it's really a crap shoot from November to March.

It is was me, I would choose Feb over September any day. Feb can have some very cool (read cold) early mornings & very late evenings. Pack a hoodie or sweatshirt to wear for rope drop & then tie around your waist from noon onward. Wear a fleecy jacket down on the plane and a pr of jeans & pack an extra pair of jeans for good measure. Women can get away with capris on most days. If you really feel the cold, then pack a wool hat (we call them toques in Canada . . . you call them beanies in the US?) & some dollar store stretchy gloves. However, I don't think most people end up really needing these. Definitely watch the long range weather in the weeks preceding & pack accordingly. However, Feb is normally much warmer than Jan in Orlando. Beware the President's Day holiday weekend and the week preceding and after. Go early in Feb for lower crowds. Early Feb can have some of the lowest park crowd numbers of the year. September's numbers are starting to climb because of Free Dining & the Food & Wine Festival. September can rain days on end like the devil. The humidity can zap you right out. September is also well within the Florida hurricane box. While Orlando is spared the worst of the state's hurricane season, high winds will shut down rides. Driving rains & soaked feet make life miserable in the parks. I wouldn't invest $2K or more on an Disney vacation in September when I know what the hurricane season can do. I have family who have endured the brunt of it on the Florida east coast. While Orlando hardly ever sees the teeth of a hurricane, I still wouldn't be comfortable with a September vacation.

We have been the last 4 February's during the week you mention, this year it was COLD, as in wore hat, mittens, fleece, raincoat, and cursed myself for not bringing a winter coat. But being freezing on SDMT beats being freezing at home, right? We have never been hot in Feb, though we have seen the occasional 80. Typical days are starting with leggings under a dress, with a light sweater, and both leggings and sweater come off midday, perhaps adding sweater back at night. Warm enough for our kids to swim. But I only swim if it is above 70, so less swimming for me! That was the one thing I liked better about our July trip-- pools were awesome. Doesn't rain much in February, which is a benefit!
