What kind of weather can I anticipate in the beginning of December? 3-11th? Is there a good chance of hurricanes then too?

Thank you!

Hurricane season is over before December. The weather really varies in Dec. The last 2 times we were there all in the same trip it was warm one day, colder than heck the next day or 2 then nice again. Take warm and cold weather clothes.

Hurricanes - no. Hurricane season only runs through the end of October. Temperatures can vary greatly. It could be in the 40's one day and in the upper 70's the next. We were there last December and will be again this year. One day we wore winter coats and gloves, one day we wore tank tops and shorts. You can count on the nights to be pretty cool but daytime temperatures are all over the place. You just have to be prepared for all kinds of weather.

I will second what everyone has said...it is pretty variable in early Dec. Last year we were there 11/27-12/03. On the first day it was very cold (keeping in mind that we are from CA)...about 45-50 degrees during the day. It warmed up a little for the rest of the week (high 60s-low 70s). The great part about that time of year is that the humidity is relatively low. It is almost always crisp in the mornings and cool in the evening. From experience, we pack for both extremes. Despite that, IMHO, it is the best time of year to go. (and hurricane season is WAY over by that time)

Ditto the above posts. Layering is the key. Even if it's cold outside, wear a jacket or sweatshirt over a t-shirt because the attractions will be VERY warm. If you can't take off your outer layer, it'll feel like a sauna!

We had similar experiences to the above. We spent 6 days the first week of Dec (this was several years ago). First day was rainy in the morning and early afternoon, temp in the 70's-80's. The next 4 days were absolutely beautiful, but COLD (like 30's-40's). The last day, back up to the 70's, nice during the day, thunderstorm at night.

I hope it is kind of cold when we go from Dec 4-10. Not the whole time, but in parts. Mainly the night we get there..Staying at WL...Then kind of cool the night we do MGM and see the osborne lights. And hopefully at least one of the nights at the Christmas party. I just think that cold weather mixed in with "snow" and you have the Christmas feel.

we used to always go in early Dec, last 2 trips early Jan and Dec is better...it can be cold but that is usually at night( lowest it ever got out of 6 trips was 35 one night) ...we have camped in a tent/sleeping bags/sweats in early Dec with out much of a problem and we have never needed more than a sweatshirt over shorts at night/morning in early dec....Jan is another matter and has been colder for sure..jeans and sweat shirts for a few days or this year our winter jacket 1 day.

Tee Hee! I have to giggle when people think 45 - 50 is cold! We had -50 f with the windchill last winter and had a couple weeks straight of -20 w/out the wind chill and that was the High temp!!! Heck in 50 I'm in shorts!!!! :teeth:

:teeth:

Yes.. but I get really bitter when there is snow in May and you are all enjoying spring!!!

I think that Dec is the best time to go. I can avoid the heat there, and the snow here.:D

Now, the weather in Dec in Fla is exactly like the others have said, prepare for anything. LY it was 70-80's during the day and 50's at night. Some cold rain/drizzle, one night was COLD (Fla standards, sweatrshirt weather for us New Englanders)

Use layers and add or remove as appropriate.

Another ditto on the above posts. A little warning- when we were there 2 years ago in Dec we look things to layer with because we had learned from previous trips. However, we didn't bring gloves or caps. At any of your fine Disney resorts they will be happy to sell you wal-mart knit gloves and caps for $7.00 each. These are the same things you will find at wal-mart for .50-1.00 so don't forget those!!

Last Dec. it was hit or miss day by day. I do have a tip for you........The best thing we packed was those thin strechie gloves and headbands. They took up little room in the suitcase and was just enough to take the edge off the night air. We were glad we had them when we needed them. If I had to do it again (and I will in Dec 2005 :) ) I would have packed a turtleneck to throw on under a sweatshirt in the evenings. Don't get spoked, it wasen't freezing cold, buy if there is a breeze it will seem colder than it really is.

the turtle neck is a good idea..the coldest actual placesat wdw imo are on the transportation boats at night so if you are planning on using any of them as trans. plan ahead for them with something warmer than you need just walking around. we found that while a sweat shirt would be fine every where else we'd freeze on the boats...( even with the windows shut). with the T.neck you could take off the outer garment once the boat got you to your destination
