We are going to be in Disney Fort Wilderness this December 16th-23nd.
So do I need to bring shorts and pants for the kids?
As well as long or short sleeve shirts?
Is it too cold to swim?
The latest we have ever been to Disney is early part of November. The weather was really nice in the day time and was cooler at night but the weather was great.
We are going with two of our children and two grandchildren.
As I really need to tell my son what he needs to bring with him from Dyess AFB.
I hate to tell him not to bring a swim suit and the kids can swim.

We stayed at Fort Wilderness for the 1st week of January a few years ago. We wore sweat shirts and jeans most of the time, occasionally t-shirts. I think the pools are all heated so swimming is definitely possible. Getting out of the pool will probably be pretty chilly, but I know my kids would be more than willing to suffer a little chill when getting out if it meant they got to swim.

Thanks ksimmons621, I will tell my son and daughter. So they can start getting the stuff they need for the trip.

December weather is unpredictable. Bring stuff for cold (30's) and warm (80) weather. Always bring a swimsuit. :thumbsup2

We were at the Fort this past Dec., ,, Florida had record cold temps all month :scared1:

We have been at the Fort in years past in Dec when we only wore shorts and short sleeves the whole time.

It's kinda a crap shoot, :confused3,,prepare for both weather.

^^^^ Prepare for both types of weather. When we stayed in January one year we had a freeze 2 nights in a row. They shut the pool down for the day AND the one water park that was "open". So if it freezes don't expect to swim (heated pool or not). I live here and I only swim from May until Sept. So those other months of the year are freeze days for me...:rotfl:

I think, these days no matter where you are the weather is so unpredictable at any given time of the year.
I always plan for anything. My theory is, I would rather have it and not need than need it and not have it!

I agree prepare for both. And this past winter we did have pretty cold days. Especially when the sun went down it was freezing. We hit down in to the 20s sometimes. Woke up a few times to ice on our windshields. That was fun. But then there are times that we are really warm too.

We are going back the first and second week in December, and I am planning on packing (or sending) a little bit of everything! We went in December 2 years ago, and we swam an enjoyed 80 degree weather....and we wore winter coats/hats/mittens for fireworks at night. Kind of goes with the Christmas decorations :santa:

Thanks sunburnin and ABitDistracted.
So Yeah I will pack a little bit of every thing!

We will be back Dec 17-26. (yay!!!)
I've been wondering the same thing. Gotta say, it's easier to pack for the unpredictable weather when you are packing your RV instead of packing a suitcase and you're cramped for space.
Fort Wilderness - we missed you last week! We had fun at POP but we all (even DD7) felt like we were cheating on you!!! We will never stray again! See you in 77 days!!

I agree with the others, weather is so unpredictable, be prepared for both swimming and cold weather and rain. You can't control mother nature, so be prepared and have fun!
