Can anyone tell me how hot it is and how bad the crowds are?

We are thinking of Aug 27 - Sept 3. We have been there in June before so we have experienced Florida humidity.

Thanks,

Anna

The weather patterns for June and August are almost Identical, with maybe slightly less chance of rain for August. The average max temp for August is 91 and you already know about the humidity :crazy2: . The crowds are usually pretty heavy until Labor Day :crowded: but you may catch a break if kids are heading back to school early. :teacher:

Hi Anna,

Well, there's not much to add... August weather is what it is! Very hot, very humid, and a thunderstorm almost every afternoon lasting between 15 minutes and 2 hours.

The end of August is a good time to go crowd-wise, as many Southern schools are back in session. But you'd be better off avoiding Labor Day weekend if you don't want crowds.

Have fun,

Bob

We have gone the past 7 yrs the last two wks of Aug. We leave around the 23rd and return on Labor Day. The parks aren't that crowded, the ride that seems to have the longest wait is Splash Mountain & Kali. We use Fastpasses, bring our Britta bottles and mister fans. The only disadvantage is that Magic Kingdom is not open late during the week. Spectro is only on the weekends, but Wishes is every night. My husband says he can deal with that and rather have less crowds. Most of the kids are back to school so that brings down the crowd level. It is hot with humidity. I found that the crowds pick up Saturday of Labor Day weekend.

We went last year from Aug. 28-Sept 3rd and although it was soooo hot we found ways to stay cool and totally loved that the crowds were very light.

Now the fact that this was the week between the two horrible hurricaines might have something to do with the light crowds. But we will never go back to WDW during a busy time so we are going back again this year from Aug. 28th -Sept 3rd again :cheer2:

I would take the heat, humidity and even hurricaines over the crowds and long lines anyday!!

Plan for the heat and you will have a great trip!!!

We can deal with the humidity as long as it's not that crowded. We have been to WDW with humidity and crowds and it hasn't been that fun. We would really like to try the end of August. Even my nephew in Maryland starts school before Labor Day so we were hoping for less crowds. It's also value season so the rooms are less.

Thanks,

Anna

We were there from Aug 30-Sept 6. Our 1st park day was the Saturday before Labor Day. That Sat, Sun, and Mon were what I would call "moderate" crowds...maybe 30-45 minute waits on the more popular rides. After Monday though, everyone left and the parks were virtually empty. We did almost all of MK in 1/2 a day.
As for the weather, it was HOT and humid....typical Florida weather. As long as you dressed very light and drank a lot of water, it was managable, but I wouldn't do DW again in the summer if I had a choice, especially w/ kids.

Crowd-wise is great. I don't mind the heat & humidity myself, so I think it's great all the way around. It's pretty easy to keep cool as most of the attractions are indoors (except AK, plan on short bursts there). I love the short lines.
When we were there last 2 weeks of Aug. in 2001, the lines went from 40 minutes the 3rd week to 10 min. the 4th week. I'm counting on that for this August too since we're going the 24th - 30th to make up for the long lines we had at Spring Break.

We have been many years beginning of September, and only 2004 was affected by hurricanes. No better times for crowds, even early December is not as good as early September right after Labor Day....We can deal with the heat and humidity as long as it is uncrowded, and just be prepared for some rain showers and you will have a great time.... :sunny:
